As stated over and over below, this class was amazing and I can't recommend it enough. Teacher Ja was so knowledgeable, skilled and helpful, as well as very funny and creative. Beautiful book she put together full of histories of Thai food, pictures and recipes for you to take home. I will rave about this class for a long time to come. Do it do it! Even those who aren't huge cooks will love it!!!

“If you like Thai food - Go Here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2014

A very informative and interactive day with a great teacher in nice surroundings. Learned about the history of Thai ingredients, how they are harvested, how they grow, how to use in cooking. Taste along the way. There were about 11 people on the day we did the course and while this is a big group, we were all looked after very well and everyone got to have a go at cooking. The highlight was cooking and then eating the curries. We did six in all and they were delcious. A great day for all.

“When it comes to Thai cooking courses, this is it.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2014

Given the fact that I utterly enjoy Thai food, back in December when I was in Thailand I did cooking courses in three different cooking schools. One of them was in Bangkok, the other two in Koh Chang. The Blue Lagoon is the one that stands out by far. Or at least it was totally to my taste. I enjoyed that the course was totally hands on: all dishes are prepared from scratch, by mixing and grinding all the spices and ingredients for your curries and your sauces. Nothing is pre-prepared! For me this is a great plus as you can then follow the same process once you are back home.
The kitchen itself where the lesson takes place, is just beautiful. It is spacious and it blends so harmoniously with its natural surroundings, the ocean and the local vegetation. It is obvious at every step how mindful and respectful this place and its people are towards the nature.
The teacher who conducts the class was certainly another great plus of this school. She has an extensive knowledge and ability to answer any question on the local cuisine (cooking and cutting techniques, spices, herbs, roots and oils differences and usage...), she has a great sense of humor and makes the whole thing friendly and relaxed.
So after the course I felt: This was exactly what I was looking for.

Not only was it fun, and in a great location, but the class was also very informative. Had a lot of fun and the food was magic. Hands on teaching was also very good and practical. I would do this class again.

“Great teacher Great food Great day”

I've been doing this cooking school with my mother and my brothers (16 & 12 yo) and everyone of us really enjoyed. The best is that you can choose what you want to learn, so for us was spring roll, tom ka, and Tom yum. After choosing the dishes, Ya, the teacher start to deeply explain everything about the ingredient and the place of the dish in the Thai culture. Really a must to do! One more thing: the place around the cooking school is FA-BU-LOUS!
