We loved Bang Bao - we only ended up here by accident as we couldn't get our flights to Krabi due to the airport protests. We got the last ferry to Ko Chang with all the backpackers. Whilst they were all getting dropped off at various noisy streets on the way down the coast, we were the final stop at the fishing village.
Great restaurants nearby, fun sea hut with coconut scoop toilet, and cheap mini bar.
breakfast and free boat hop to the beach (5 minutes) were great. recommended.

We stayed here for the first week of a 3 month trip. Although you should not expect luxuary, the huts are large, clean and comfortable with the most amazing sea views. Pay extra to have an outer ring bungalow, def worth it. This was probably the best value accomodation of our trip and probably the most memorable too. Stay here!

this place was so dreamy and amazing! we loved it!
the staff were so sweet and helpful. we stayed for 3 nights.
the view outside your hut is amazing, i recommend paying the little extra for the outer ring.
breakfast is served to your hut each morning at whatever time suits. we were so relaxed.
the bathroom was basic, but hey, you are in a hut so you don't mind.
they offer a free boat to a nearby beach, and free use of kayaks. the mini bar is very good price.

bang bao is described as a little fishing village. it's a long concrete strip leading to a lighthouse with stilted shops and restuarants on either side. we found that there wasn't much to do there and souviner shop after another was boring once you'd been through it once. i would recommend going on the snorkling trip - it was amazing.

We stayed at the Bang Bao Sea Huts for four nights, in early November. The rooms are clean, smart and cover all the essentials. The service and attention from the operators was great, without being intrusive.

Although some minor building works were underway (in preparation of the high season), these were done with little disruption to the guests.

Highly recommended. Bang Bao itself is great and probably the last place on the west coast of Koh Chang that has an authentic feel to it.

  • Liked — Simple yet perfectly presented
  • Disliked — Wooden walls in high winds and torrential rain can be noisy

I had my reservations about staying at the Bang Bao Sea Huts after reading several reviews, although mostly positve. I knew that I wanted to stay in a place like the Bang Bao Sea Huts just from looking at the pictures. However, upon arrival, my fears were quickly resolved. The hotel looked exactly like the pictures on the internet. The setting was exactly as I envisioned, and our stay was better than expected.

The Bang Bao Sea Huts are located on the southern tip of the island near a small fishing village. There are lots of shops and resturants around as well. The sea huts are tastefully decorated with a king size bed with mosquito net, and the furnishings are rustic yet functional. What we enjoyed the most about our stay there was the privacy, peace and tranquil setting. We felt like the only couple there in the entire resorts.

We booked an outer ring bungalow and had an unobstructed view of the bay. There is a private patio with comfortable furniture on which to relax.

Breakfast is included in the price of the room. They bring it to your patio at the time that you request it. They ask the previous day, and bring it promptly. It is a basic American breakfast with eggs, ham, toast, coffee and juice.

There is also a beach nearby. They have a boat that takes you and picks you up when you are ready to leave. It is only about 10 minutes away. The boat brings you back to the dock in front of your room. The beach is very nice as well. There is a resturant and bar along the beach. They brought all of the people on the beach fuit shakes. We did not order them, and thought they were complimentary. However, we later found out that this was just to entice you to buy something, afterwhich, they charge for the fruit shakes. Nevertheless, we had a delightful time.

One word of caution regarding the plumbing at the BangBao Sea Huts. Some might find this off-putting, but we found it fascinating that you have to use a ladle with water to flush the toilet. Also, the water from the faucet in the sink drains directly into the sea. Both are quite adequate and works well. We also found the mosquitoes a bit annoying, but overlooked it for the tranquil setting and enjoyment that we experienced from our stay here. We would definitely stay there again, and recommend it it anyone who asks.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Bang Bao Sea Huts for 2 nights and were SO impressed. We travelled around Thailand for a month and this was by far our favourite place. Everything about it was perfect- it's located in a beautiful fishing village full of lovely seafood restaurants and beautiful beaches. The staff were so helpful and friendly, we didn't want to leave! Wish we could have stayed for longer, we definately recommend it.
