“Splendid resort in beautyful surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

We stayed for 7 nights and felt that we was very welcome. Very nice staff in the reception. Our air condition set out at one point. I went to talk to the reception and in half an our a repair man came to our room. Very good service.

We arranged all our tours at the hotel reception. It was very well arranged and we found out that it was cheaper to arrange tours at the hotel than go to the other tour arrangers in town.
The hotel tour staff understood our wishes and was able to guide us to the right tours for us.

The breakfast consist mainly of Thaifood and rice, but you could compose your own omelet and bread and jam was available as well as the, coffee and juice.
The resort is very well centered in the small town and the beach restaurant is very good. We ordered some food and drinks and the waiter told us to go and enjoy the beach and he would find us on the beach when the food was ready. He came with a tray with our order so we could enjoy the meal in our sun chairs.

There is a nice beach- & pool towel service by the pool at the beach. We rented a scooter so we could go to White sands in the evenings, I highly recommend that. Or take the tuk-tuk, it will take about 10 minuts to go to White Sands

Also a tour to Bangbao market and to the small islands that you can sail to from Bangbao. That is indeed bounty islands It is Koh Kood, Koh Mak, Koh Wai - from all beaches you can snorkel from the beach. The most clear blue water I have ever seen, so many fish and corals. There is so much to do or see in Koh Chang. The down side is that the Russian tourists is very loud and pushy. and there is a lot of them in Koh Chang.

If you want some night life and bars then you should stay in White Sands. Not much to see in the small town where Coconut beach is situated.
On scooter, we went to the other side of the island - there is nothing to see, only some resorts there was very isolated.

Room Tip: The Villas is very good and spacey, big rooms very nice and clean, outdoor privacy not so good as th...

we visited many hotels before choosing this one. we had a bungalow room with the swimming pool and the nice long beach just 10 meters far from the room.
The room was clean and large. pool view from inside and beach view from the bacon.
The staff is very organised, nice and helpful. They also allowed us for a 2 hours late check out for free. The only complain is the breakfast which is poor, but not bad in flavour.
after all, must say is the best deal on the island for the money.

Room Tip: chose the bungalow around the swimming pool. a bit noisy during the day, but best view. No noise aft...

---Summary---
Quiet hotel. People are from all over the world, about half of them with kids but kids were at the age where they are quiet... or so it seemed cuz it was never a problem. Only 2 Russian families were heard, so it's was more or less a success. However, we did suffer from a loud family the last days there. They were our neighbors. But it's just me being annoyed, not the hotel. Hotel is nice. Nothing extra but you get what you pay for. We didn't want luxury and paid very little. So, for the price it was a great, great place.
Also, this hotel has one of the best locations on the island. There are many street vendors, cafes, restaurants, whereas some nicer hotels (like Ayapura for instance) are located far from all this. People in those hotels had to rent a motor bike every day to drive to the places that sold food because their hotel was only close to some construction site or a gas station. We didn't have to worry about that. :-)

---Staff---
+Super polite, quiet, efficient.
-They want to clean the room every day around 9AM. That was way too early for us, so a few times I asked them to wait.

---Rooms---
+Clean, spacious,. They provide shampoo, conditioner, soap, shower cap.
-Villa Superior and Bungalow Superior as they can be seen on various websites - are not the same thing! Villa is not a villa but a room in the main campus. It's bigger and nicer, yes, it has comfy bench on the porch but it's not a villa. And it's facing the garden, not the beach. We didn't care much but if romance is your priority, check twice.
Another drawback which was actually really annoying was a construction site right across the street from our room. Every.single.day their electric drill started at 7:30 AM. I should've asked them to give us another room but I didn't.

---Hotel territory---
+So green! Palm trees, lawns, orchids growing straight from the trees...
-Little "pond" (which is just a tiny reservoir of water like 4x4m and 0.5m deep with big koi carp fish that are nearly dying from dirty water and lack of room there...) has tons of frogs that will happily sing you their songs when you want to get some sleep...

---Food---
+Many options, a lot of meat, vegetables, diverse side dishes. Fresh pineapples every day. The food is not spicy if you're scared of Thai spice.
-These options are kinda all the same. With some variety of course but very similar. Also, don't expect to have shrimps there. Meat - yes, a lot of meat options but we didn't fish or shrimps. It's not a problem, you can get those across the street from street vendors dirt cheap.

---Beach---
+Great. We went to other beaches on the island, and they were more crowded and less clean. So I was really happy with it. If you want to have romantic pictures with the swings, don't worry, you can see those everywhere on the beach. No stones, corals, jellyfish, seaweed, or other things to spoil your relaxing time.
-You get tired before the water is at your neck, you just walk, and walk, and walk... :-)

Room Tip: Ask for rooms further from the Chai Chet resort. There's a construction site, and there's a...

Holiday resort destinations will obviously vary and will suit different types of travelers. Coconut Beach Resort was exactly what I was looking for. Not to busy, good beach, friendly/safe sea, and a few (but not too many) souvenir shops/restaurants near by. There was also plenty of excursions that we really enjoyed (snorkeling, elephants, waterfalls etc). I had found out which excursions we would see before we traveled but the resort was very helpful arranging the tickets and taxi pickups. So why only 2 out of 5?? Well, for a start we went for the most expensive option of a beach front bungalow and found out that there is apparently 2 rows of bungalows, and as you can work out only one of them can be "front". Ours wasn't......but that was ok with me. The breakfast wasn't great, but not enough to reduce the rating. The noise from the building site next door was bit irritating when laying on the beach, but again didn't bother me enough to reduce the rating. However from day 1 until we left (6 days later) our toilet did not work properly. I am sure this isn't a general problem with the resort, but the lady at the reception said it would be a complex job to fix it (approx 1 day). So we used the toilet in resort restaurant which was conveniently located next to our bungalow. This would irritate most people and could ruin a holiday....... but not me!! No way! The view of the mountains from the beach was great and the Thai food totally overshadowed this inconvenience! So ask again...."why only 2 out of 5"??.... On checking out we had a very small minibar bill of 200 baht. I asked the girl at reception if it would be a good idea to drop this bill as "compensation" for not having a toilet during our stay..... and she said no!!! COME ON!!! 200 baht?!?!? This is nothing compared to the price of our "superior" bungalow and would have just been a friendly gesture!! My recommendation would still be to go to this resort..... we was just a little bit unlucky with the toilet and this kind of thing can happen at any resort. And if it's not the toilet it will no doubt be something else :O)

Food was average at best. Some of the staff were great, some didn't care. The room was dark and impractical for us with children (Wanishapool room). The hotel did not provide a water boiler or extra towels when asked for.

The beach was great, specially for kids. Location is very good.

One night we got a lot of bites from mosquitoes and decided we had had enough. We left early, did not get money back for the final day that we didn't use.

We had a very relaxing time at Coconut Beach and this was by far the nicest we have stayed at so far after about 8 visits to Koh Chang. The beach fronted bungalow was perfect, clean, quiet and very relaxing. Early in the morning was great... open up the sliding glass doors and watch the waves gently lapping the beach .... all from your four poster bed which was very comfortable. Plenty of storage space, a room safe and minibar which was always stocked! The price included breakfast and you could order food from the restaurant and they would bring it to your room where you could eat and enjoy on your own terrace just meters from the sea. The pool was very clean and the staff very friendly. There are plenty or other restaurants, bars nearby and attractions such as elephant trekking, waterfalls & scuba diving. If you love your sea-food then I would recommend Baan Bao, where there are several fantastic restaurants all serving very fresh seafood. You can arrange fishing/ driving trips from there as well as go on a squid fishing trip in the evening which is quite interesting. Sure there are more luxurious and more expensive resorts to stay at but for us this was perfect. Visit in low season and you can expect to pay half the normal room rate.

Room Tip: Low season gets you half price! Try to arrive on the island before nightfall, especially if you are...

i took a standard room at 1800-15% discount :1530bht. Room very spacious with fridge tv aircon and ample bathroom all in working order .large bed not as hard as bloody baylan bay . nice breakfast buffer included . my room was overlooking the main road but that wasnt a problem and it had a large balcony. they have much nicer rooms at much pricier rates if the fancy takes you. the beach is at the end of the garden , has a shower and sunchairs. i feel this was altogether perfectly acceptable in value as the island standards go. Oh, and they fold your towels nicely : swan shaped yesterday , elephant shaped today !
