“Small island experience with the comforts of home. Charming.”
Reviewed November 3, 2010

I had a great time at this hidden gem on Koh Chang. Paradise Palms features 3 regular bungalows and 1 family bungalow. They are classic style, but very comfortable. You can tell a Westerner built these, but they also have the feel of being on a little island in Thailand. Inside there was a large fridge/freezer and a tv. The bathroom was large, clean, and had a walk in shower. It had colored tiles and was definitely a nice place, it wasn't generic. You can tell a lot of love and character went into this place. Each bungalow also has really chilled out balconies facing the ocean. My bungalow wasn't directly on the ocean, but that was prefferable for me. The place is setup with a kind of courtyard in the middle that has some healthy trees and lots of semi-hidden Thai/Buddhist art pieces. There is also a quaint little beach bar by the ocean that is just so classic! My bungalow overlooked these and the ocean. The beach bar has a fridge filled with drinks and bar stools set on a patio. It even has a cribbage board hanging made out of the old bar sign that had been tossed into the ocean and drifted back in years later. CLASSIC! This is the kind of place that when you arrive, you just forget about your worries and hang out. The owners are really nice and take care of little things. There are motorbikes that are free to use. In the morning they have 2 giant thermoses of coffee sitting at the beach bar and it really hits the spot. The location is inbetween 2 beach towns. There is internet close by and a number of restaraunts. The Elephant House features great steaks and burgers. I would definitely stay here again.

Mukavalla paikalla poissa White Sandsin halinasta sijaitseva pieni 4 bungalowin resortti.

Mukava paikka rauhallista lomaa kaipaaville.

the best place at Koh Chang- close to the best restaurant Saffron, matt, Tara and Muck are very friendly people.. the Bungalows are clean and stylish. The area is silent no work there - no Bars no Disco.. you get a good free scotter- perfekt for the island matt offers you good tours and he knows the island.. he is more than a man how offers you a bungalow, he is your security, your macGywer, and friend.

Have fun and have also there good days and nights..as we had.

We stayed one week in paradise palms resort and had a good time. We booked the seafront bungalow. So we had the best view on the sea.
The beach is covered with stones that makes it difficult to go for a swim. A plus you will not get bortherd by beach sellers. But white sand beach is very close if you want to swimm and relax on the sand its easy to go there. Paradise palms provide you with a motobike so you can go everywhere you want. Matt the owner of the Resort and his wife are really nice and helpfull to plan all your activities. They really take care of their guests.

A great little place to stay on Koh Chang. We spent four nights here in the front bungalow (literally right on the water) ... The location is quiet (Pearl Beach just has 3 or 4 'resorts' and a small shop) ... but it is central on the island and only five minutes to White Sand Beach by motorbike. If you are looking for some "quiet" time this is a great location and I'd suggest far better than White Sand Beach (which should be re-named Grey Sand beach ...) The beach at Pearl Beach is actually smooth stones, not sand, so you don't end up with sand in your bed :) .... We had some magic sunsets over the water, drink in hand ... very cool. For the price you can't go wrong.

Stayed 4 night in low season august. Very quiet, almost nobody. Ideal for a couple looking for romantic stay better than for solo traveller. Low season deal very interesting at 699 and most of all, the included motorbike is really an added value to get freedom on the island.
Very simple but clean room with fridge, large bathroom/shower and incredible views on the sea. Missing in the room: reading light.

Paradise Palms is the perfect place if what you have had is 50 weeks of everyone at work up your????? and all you really, really want is to relax, watch the water, get a little sun, eat like a prince and let the world pass you by for the duration of your vacation.
We found Paradise Palms on Trip Advisor and after several e-mails decided to stay with owner Matt and his really lovely wife Tara. We stayed off season in the front bungalow which was more than suficent for our needs, which was to relax and find out as much about Thailand as possible, it being our first trip to Asia. I also have to say that by staying with Matt and Tara I think we learned more about Thailand in that 2 weeks than we could have ever on our own or staying at some large resort. After years of traveling both I and my partner like staying in smaller hotels, preferably family run and this one is pretty well run.
Paradise Palms may not have the huge pool and the resources that the giant hotels have but they do have the most important ingredient that guarantees you a great vacation, a personal service that they are genuinely happy to give. They are not just smiling and telling you what you want to hear like in so many places these days just to get some money. Even though this is how they earn their living it seems that you are every bit as important as anything else. I promise, I know! When I had an accident with our motor bike (an automatic) which I rented someplace else, the damage was really minimal, a few scratches but the bike shop wanted a huge price for it. Tara got angry and stepped in and brought the bike to some workmen that she knew and they replaced all the scratched plastic bits with new factory replacement parts for half the money so that the bike shop couldn’t say a word. It saved us a ton of money. In actuality if we had stayed at a big hotel this never would have happened and we would have been stuck. Of course this could have all been avoided if I had just learned how to drive one of Matt’s free bikes which came with the room and was really a better bike. I can be such a sissy.
Matt and Tara arranged fantastic cooking lessons for me, elephant trekking and not just some kind of kiddy ride but really fascinating trip. That day was a huge highlight for my partner who loves elephants. Matt arranged a tattoo for my partner which came out beautiful, directed us to the best beaches and fixed every problem and answered every question. As fortune would have it the best restaurant on the island is only 50meters away (Saffron) and there was a super cheap take away even closer for quick snacks or lunch.
So on to the rooms, comfortable and minimal is what best describes them. There are 3 small 2 room bungalows and a roomy family size one that would take at least 3 kids. The first bungalow is directly on a stone beach with fantastic views, but I have to say that Matt built all the bungalows so they all look out onto the water without any real obstructions. Each bungalow has a king size bed that’s comfortable, a bit on the hard side but we liked that. A standard fridge and freeze-, extremely handy for keeping beer and soda. A full size bathroom with a good shower and toilet, and probably in the off season the most important extra – a very effective air conditioner. Each bungalow has a good size porch or deck (which ever you wish to call it) for eating breakfast, dinner or just having a few drinks and watching the sun go down. We did have dinner delivered to our room several nights and eat on the deck down by the water watching the sunsets and having a few beers with Matt and Tara. The rooms are clean and neat; Tara cleans and changes all the sheets and towels every 3 days. If you need extra towels or would like it cleaned more often just ask- If you have brought in a bit of sand you can always get rid of it with a quick sweep, after all the room is not that big. Tara will help if you need some laundry done which we did after the first week and it came back perfect, 3 times! I don’t do breakfast, I do coffee for which I had plenty and my partner got a huge beautiful bowl of fresh fruit with yogurt each morning for what I thought was an embarrassingly small cost. As for the cost of the room, it was a pittance, 999 baht per night, we would have been happy to pay double the price considering what a great vacation we had staying with Matt and Tara at Paradise Palms.
I would recommend Paradise Palms to almost anyone. Keep in mind it’s not the Ritz Carlton, it’s a small lovely family run hotel, run and owned by people who are really thoughtful of their guests and ready to help out with almost anything. If you’re not expecting 20 half dressed barefoot natives to lift and carry you around and honestly just want to kick back, then this is the place for you.
I wanted to comment on the guys who’s review complained about sand in his bed! Perhaps he should have brushed his feet off before climbing in? Grow Up.
