“Fabulous basic little hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2013

We stayed in a room on the river side. Nice views of the Ganges. Great balcony (terrace) outside those rooms, we ordered excellent breakfast in the “German bakery” next door and had it on our terrace (they carried it up when it was ready). Wonderful restaurant across the street, the Moon Light Café --- seemed to have repeat customers, not surprising, given its nice atmosphere and great food. This hotel doesn’t really have a webpage, so it’s hard to book ahead. It’s easy to find: We took a taxi from Dehradun airport to Laxman Jhula, crossed the footbridge, turned right and walked for about five minutes. We would definitely stay here again!

The rooms range from 400 - 1500 rupees per night.
We stayed here for 6 nights in room 203, so that's what I can comment on.
Its a basic room (double bed, ceiling fan & private bathroom). For 500 rupees, I thought it was well worth it because its on the terrace (which we seemed to have to ourselves for the most part), with a great view of the river (especially at sunset!), the bed was very comfortable (I had 6 FULL nights sleep, yes, we've stayed in some dives!), the windows have bars & insect mesh (so u can have windows open all the time), it was spotless & well finished (so I didn't mind chilling out in my room). So, nothing bad to say about this place, I would definitely stay here again if I came back to Laxman Jhula :)

This place is a pleasant surprise amidst all the over-priced hotels in rishikesh. We stayed here for a night. The location is great. The common balcony faces the river ganges and you can see people rafting in the river from here. A few rapids are visible too. There are river-facing rooms which provide an excellent view. They are slightly over-priced as compared to the normal rooms, however still reasonable when compared to other hotels nearbye. The attendant will get you tea/ coffee/ breakfast in your room from a nearbye restaurant. The accomodation is very neat and tidy, linen are fresh. There is an AC, TV, Fridge in every room. The best part is it's very reasonably priced and located in the vicinty of some great cafes/ bakeries near lakshman jhula. You can walk down to freedom cafe from here for a quick meal/ snacks.

Room Tip: Take rooms on 2nd floor facing the river-side. They provide a great view.

After having a rough start in Rishikesh we arrived to this guesthouse and found the place to be what we looked for. The view from the balcony is amazing. The room was spacious. Had hot water whenever we wanted and it was the first place in India in which the shower head actually provided a nice stream. The owner was very friendly and to complete the experience every morning we had a monkey coming to visit us at the balcony. The only thing is that being on the main road, it got quite noisy early in the morning.

Awesome Ganga view from the shared balcony, very relaxing place to hang out. Staff was nice and helpful. Our room was spotless and very cheap (400 Rs with bathroom, fan and street side window). Overall very good, highly recommended.

Lovely, solid, quiet, well kept guesthouse right on the ganga.
I stayed here 8 nights. Room was comfortable, new AC unit, TV, nice bathroom and balcony looked out on the the Ganga.
The owner and his staff are all super friendly and helpful. Felt like one of the family.

After one night in a stuffy room, we moved here for the rest of our stay in Rishikesh. We stayed for five nights and really enjoyed the shared balcony and view of the Ganges. Since there wasn't anyone staying near us, we really had the space to our selves. We were also surprised the rooms weren't fully booked since ours was very clean.

We found it to be a bit cold during our stay and the owner even offered us a second blanket. The owner and other staff were very friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed.

We highly recommend Dev Ganga Guest House to other travelers.
