Our first visit ever to a Bed & Breakfast, and it was very, very nice. The setting was comfortable beyond our expectations, the establishment was dog friendly, which was very important to us. The privacy was wonderful, and the owners are truly knowledgeable about the surrounding area.

Looking for a B&B in Chincoteague a few days before departing home left few choices and virtually none in Chincoteague. We selected Garden and Sea Inn in New Church based on the pictures shown and proximity to our destination. At first the 20 minute trip from New Church to Chincoteague and Assateague seemed liked it would be a hindrance. It was not. We planned accordingly and found this B&B to be a hidden gem. Thomas and Dorothee were wonderful hosts and the hotel was very clean, great furnishings, excellent size rooms, and extremely comfortable bed and room. We stayed in the Merlot Room. The room was extremely quiet. The bathroom was huge and very clean. Some rooms had fireplaces but ours did not. It did not matter in September. The morning breakfast was gourmet fare, prepared each day by Dorothee (served by Thomas), was excellent. Overall the ambiance of this B&B was just what my wife and I were looking for. The great weather cannot be ruled out as a factor! One must consider that the distance from New Church to Chincoteage and Assateague is not a trip you want to do more than once a day, so plan accordingly. Everything is very casual, but I can imagine if you had gone swimming at Assateague and then wanted to stay for dinner in Chincoteague you would need to get a shower and change. There were no such facilities on Assateague (that I am aware of) so a trip back to your hotel for that purpose would be needed. However, it you did not go swimming and wanted to dine while there, everything is very casual and you could certainly do so without an extra trip back to New Church. We would certainly stay here again, possibly with friends the next time.

My husband and I stayed at the Garden and Sea 9/20-9/23/12. We stayed three nights and so enjoyed the accommodations as well as the wonderful food. The banana pecan French toast was amazing. I would highly recommend the inn for its charm and friendly service. I would highly recommend the garden house that comes complete with a screened in porch. My husband and I enjoyed more than a few hours on the porch reading and making new friends. I look forward to future trips to the inn! Try it for yourself--the owners work very hard to make their inn enjoyable for all their guest.

Room Tip: Hen I go back, I'm looking forward to staying in the Lighthouse room, in the garden house.

Dorothee and Thomas have created a wonderful B&B close to the beachs of Assateague island. The food was great and the accomodations were very nice. Very dog-friendly and delicious food! If you bring your dog, I'd also recommend making the drive up to the Assateague national seashore in Maryland, which is a wonderful beach and dog-friendly!

Room Tip: Stayed in the Lighthouse room, which has a nice screened porch for hanging out with your dog and nei...

My wife and I visited the Garden and Sea Inn in 2011 and fell in love with the charm of the property and the innkeepers, Thomas and Dorothee. This year my wife insisted on spending a 3 day weekend here to close out our summer. Our second visit only heightened our desire to make the Garden and Sea Inn a regular experience.

In addition to a cozy bed and breakfast the Garden and Sea Inn is conveniently located near Chincoteague Island and the Assateague National Seashore. We visited both during our stay but particularly enjoyed our daytrip to the sandbar off the southern end of Chincoteague Island. There's lots to do exploring the islands, seeing the horses, taking kayak/boat tours, and exploring the local area. Furthermore talking with Thomas and Dorothee is thoroughly delightful and they recommended amazing local restaurants, antique stores and daily excursions.

Whether you enjoy a glass of port on the porch with new friends, like to explore the beautiful eastern shore outdoors or spend time with your 4 legged friend, the Garden and Sea Inn is the place for you.

Room Tip: Our first stay was in the Nelson room. Beautiful and charming with hardwood floors and beautiful mor...

At least for a while. My wife and I stayed a long weekend at the Garden Sea about two months ago (early July) and had a magnificent time. It was our last getaway before our daughter was born and we were looking forward to getting away from it all. We wanted to see the horses, crash out on the beach and dine, dine, dine. We were not disapointed, breakfast was wonderful and the dinner advise was spot on. I have Celiac disease and follow a strict gluten free diet. This was no problem for them to accomidate, just let them know if advance. My entire family will be back, that much is certain.

Room Tip: The bathroom in the Chablis suite is best for couples that are very comfortable with each other. Th...
