“Beautiful setting but could do better”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013 via mobile

A group of friends travel every year to an all inclusive hotel, and this boutique hotel was very good in lots of respects but certain things could bring it to a fantastic hotel. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with private villas on the approach to the hotel. There is also a golf course that is joined to the hotel which guest can play every day if they so wish. The food at the golf club was fabulous but as at the hotel not everything was included on the menu, which is hard to understand when you have booked all inclusive. The food at the hotel was very good but,the al la carte menu was only served at lunch time, with a buffet mostly served in the evening, again not everything on the menu was included on our package. This also applied to the drinks, drinks were served from 11am till 11pm which if you wanted a soft drink before that time you were charged. The staff at this hotel were very friendly and gentle but things are done in Mauritian time laid back. Just a few things for them think about.

This beautiful hotel has all the ingredients for a truly amazing holiday location. The hotel itself is small, built in a traditional style and has amazing views of the Indian Ocean. It is part of a complex which includes high class, privately owned villas and a golf club. Casella National Park is very close and the visit there was a highlight of the holiday. If you go make sure you do the Segway tour and walk with the lions - a true once in a lifetime experience. Similarly it was amazing to swim with the dolphins in Tamarina bay just in front of the hotel. Many of the staff were really friendly, especially Atish and Pryanka, but service otherwise was fairly low key. There are several things the hotel could do better. A regular clean up of the beach would make a huge difference. In other hotels we have stayed in this is part of the daily ritual. The all inclusive service was far too complicated - too many things not included and having to sign for everything really defeats the object of choosing this hassle free option. The traditional entertainment was very good at times but everything came to an end very early in the evening compared to long cocktail nights on the beach in the Caribbean. It was a great holiday and with a few additional twists this could be heaven.

We selected this hotel for our special 10th wedding anniversary holiday and we made an excellent choice with the Tamarina. The hotel is quite small......there are only 50 rooms but they are spread over a wide area so we never felt like there were lots of other people around us; whether we were having lunch at La Plage (one of the 2 restaurants) or sunbathing in the pool/garden areas. The hotel is strongly geared towards couples and we chatted to a number of other couples who were on their honeymoon or getting away on a special holiday like us. We took the spa package and could have a spa treatment every day which was fantastic!! As part of our all inclusive package, we were also able to go up to the golf club for lunch which was also great. We found all of the food and drinks were of a consistent high quality. The only down side of the holiday was the small birds that hung around the main restaurant at breakfast and lunch times. They would fly around from table to table getting tidbits of bread, etc which we found quite unhygienic. We did put this on our feedback form back to the hotel and hope that they have done something about this. Overall we had a fantastic relaxing holiday and would recommend the Tamarina to anyone who was looking to visit the beautiful island of Mauritius.

We had the holiday/wedding day/honeymoon of a life time at the Tamarina spa and golf hotel.
We couldn't of asked for a better place to be the staff could not do enough to make are time there a special stay. We had a wedding planner Denis who was a gem he made our wedding day perfect. The hotel accommodation was outstanding as was the food.
The spa was the most relaxing place all the staff there are lovely
If you are lucky enough to go there you must go to cassela and walk with lions what an experience wow.

Room Tip: Try to get a ocean view room its breath taking the sound of the wave are relaxing

you want loud music by the pool ,noisy games ,staff trying to get you to 'join in',sunbeds jammed together, massive busy dining rooms and shovelfuls of food then this is not the the place for you. However, if you want to hear nothing but the waves and the breeze in the palm trees while you eat your breakfast or lunch outside in the sunshine,or lie on your sunbed in one of the secluded parts of the hotel with only a few other beds, you will definitely love here.
This is a beautiful small hotel. We were absolutely delighted with the lovely room allocated to us.
The hotel is perfect ,the food lovely and the staff ,in every facility, though very hard worked ,excellent .
Within the first days ,the excellent staff in the restaurant knew us by name as did the lovely girls in the spa where I had some wonderful massages .
My husband loved the golf course and even if you don't golf I recommend the clubhouse for lunch .The hotel is also affiliated to the Casela nature park to where you can get a free shuttle .It is a great day out and you can go for lunch on the all inclusive there as well .

We had a perfect ,relaxing holiday and would certainly recommend the Tamarina to anyone and cant wait to go back .Thanks to Denis (a highly visible manager ) and all his staff .

This is a relatively small beach resort, so it seems less busy and noisy. The staff are all pleasant, and the service is pretty good all round, though occasionally a little too laid back by my standards.
Food was decent, but pricey. Ditto for the spa. I enjoyed the water-skiing. If you need to get online, there's free wifi in the bar area.

Room Tip: Rooms in the 400's are closest to the general dining area, and have quickest access to the beach...

Stayed here for just over a week, and had a great time. The hotel itself is quite small, only fifty rooms, and the friendly and accomodating staff go out of their way to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. The food & drinks here are good, there are two resturants within the hotel, and a third at the nearby golf course. This hotel occupies the northern end of Tamarin Bay, so it is possible to walk around the beach and to where Tamarin village starts, with some surfing possible just off the coast. The spa is great with some experienced masseurs. Would return if considering another stay in Mauritius.
