“Excellent place to spend the day!”
Reviewed May 23, 2012

Honestly I do not see myself staying there on a holiday but I was there with my family for the day and it was perfect! Yes, the parking is far from the hotel itself, you need to walk or take a cart, but the hotel setting is very nice, VERY peaceful and quiet. It blends with nature really well and it is a pleasure being there. The swimming pools are quite small and is right beside the restaurant but it was ok, overlooking the sea. We had buffet lunch which was just wonderful!! I tasted everything and had a lovely meal. Will definitely go back again. I also hear from friends that the burger there is good, so I will try that next time. The staff is also very friendly although there were a lot of wasps around our table and they could do nothing about it. Fortunately, no one got hurt! A little girl almost drowned in the pool and her dad had to plunge in to take her out. Well! It was a good day! To do again... After lunch we just laid around on the beach long chairs and had a nap. It is really a nice place although the beach is not the best beach to swim in in Mauritius. As a citizen of Mauritius, it always feels good to discover those places! Proud to be a Mauritian! :)

Stay in this hotel was a perfect choice to recover from every day stresfull rutine.

As non golfers staying on all inclusive basis, we had every day different massage included. Also the enterance fee to Casela park and restaurant in Casela and in golf course were included.
Golf course is worth visiting for lunch in any case, it is a beautiful area.

Beside this we found hotel staff amazingly kind and nothing was too difficult for them to make our stay even more enjoyable. Houskeeping staff check if you need anything also in the evening and in the restaurant guests are kindly welcomed for the meals. Everybody knows you as soon as you enter the hotel and staff also learn very fast about what you like and even your names.

The whole bay is one wide silky sandy beach wich is swimmable at all times and is very comfortable and safe. It is not realy white and it is not for snorkelling, but it is very nice and inviting and you do not need swimming shoes on. The beach bar is very convenient and you can easily spend a day on the beach if you feel like it. It was never crowded, because most of the guests are golfers who did not go to the beach during the day.In the beach bar they even prepare lunch boxes and serve them directly on the beach if you prefer to eat in your sunbed.

If you want to go by bus a bit around, you only ask at the reception and they bring you up to the main road by buggy and also come to pick you up and bring you back to the hotel when you return.

Rooms are well maintained, spacious and balcony is very comfortable. We even managed to get wi fi signal in our balcony.

So in short- there is a comfort and concern about guests comfort wherever you look.

The only remark we would have is that maybe hotel could use more efficient prevention against insects or could do it more often. We are aware of tropical climate and understand the position of the hotel, but we also know that in the other hotels we stayed in they coped better with insects.

We would also recommend to stay in the middle floor room- not on the top and not in the groundfloor. Our room was just perfect with position like this.
And if you choose to drink house wine- white wine is kind of acceptable, red was actualy not.

As a closure- we would definitely recommend this hotel to golfers and non golfers. And it is a good decsion to stay as all inclusive, especialy for 45 min massages every day and for all the comfort around you. You just do not have to worry about anything.

Room Tip: Try to book middle floor room. In the top room there could be wasps under the roof and in the balco...

Although we have enjoyed eating at the hotel previously this review is only about the golf course and clubhouse. This is a tough course but very rewarding if you can master the carry on many of the holes and avoid the rocks, sand traps and the tall dense grass bordering the fairways. The layout and quality of the fairways and greens especially is excellent and there is plenty of variety to not make this a boring experience on return visits. As residents and members of the local sporting club we find it is excellent value but some of the charges are very steep for visitors - particularly the carts which are essential as it is a long course and far between holes and can get very humid and hot; they really should be included in the green fees and at that price should have sophisticated GPS like at say Anahita's Ernie Els course.
The pro shop service was very good and friendly and the starter/marshall efficient and helpful ensuring a good pace for all. The lunch menu offered good choices and the staff provided excellent service. The meals we had were tasty and good value - but if eating outside in the lovely garden environment, watch out for the birds taking your food.

My partner and I have just returned from a ten night stay at this great little hotel. We found it to be quiet and relaxing, if you want bright lights and partying then don't come here. We were on the all inclusive package which included a spa treatment every day. The spa was a great bonus and the staff were friendly, helpful and interested in our well-being; the facial was particularly good as was the reflexology treatment. Without exception the staff at this hotel were outstanding; polite, professional and extremely friendly, addressing everyone by name and remembering our favourite tipple. They are the nicest I have come across anywhere in the world.
My partner, independently from the hotel, arranged five days deep sea fishing and on request, the chef prepared a packed lunch every day, albeit limited in variety. If you love deep sea fishing then Jean Michel Adam and his boat Thalassa is the man to use. He is located on the West coast a short taxi ride away from the Tamarina, his boat departs from the Morne Anglers Club in Black River. For deep sea fishing, his rates are very reasonable and competitive compared to others around the world. His crew are local experienced fishermen and have been fishing out of Mauritius for the past twenty two years - they really know what they are doing; Captain Elvis has caught over a thousand Marlin in his time.

This hotel has a small intimate feel to it and is set in a beautiful location overlooking Tamarin bay. The rooms are spacious with a king sized bed and large walk in shower; we found it to be clean and comfortable. In our experience, the food was better than what you would expect from other AI hotels with alternate special and buffet nights and Al-Carte at lunch time. The Chef was happy to accommodate any special requirements and even cooked the fish my partner caught each day.

Mauritius is a beautiful island and easy to explore, I would recommend hiring a car as the taxi's are expensive if using them daily. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for peace and relaxation that is with the exception of Sundays when the hotel opens it's doors to day visitors and families. Some may find this a refreshing change from the peace and tranquillity others may find it a minor irritation. If this hotel had it's own private beach and not a public one, this hotel would be a five star gem!

Room Tip: Most of the sea view rooms have their views obscured by trees.

This was our sixth visit to Mauritius, the first to this hotel.
We did get off to a bad start as after hours of travelling and arriving early afternoon, we just wanted to get a shower and go for a drink. Our luggage did not arrive from reception despite a couple of prompts. If we had known it would be so long - we could have carried it ourselves. We just ended up going to the bar in our travelling clothes, minus shoes! However, from then on we were very impressed. We had requested a ground floor room which we were allocated and could just about see the sea. There aren't many rooms with sea view due to the layout of the buildings, but the views of the gardens and pools are lovely to look at. The rooms and bathrooms were a generous size and the balcony furnished with two chairs and a table. Beach towels were provided from reception. The spa was excellent and all the staff there very caring and interested in your wellbeing. According to my husband the golf was challenging but very enjoyable and he found numerous other people to play with although he said the cost of the buggy was rather OTT. I joined him on a couple of occasions at the golf club for lunch and the hotel staff were very helpful in getting me there by buggy. We also visited the Casala Park and Norbert took us there in the minibus and collected us at a pre-arranged time. We were able to have drinks there all part of the all inclusive and you could also have lunch there if you wish.
The staff at the hotel were very efficient and soon got to know you by name, greeting us in the morning at breakfast. The bar staff were also very nice, although didn't come to the sun beds to ask us if we would like a drink (OK, it wasn't too far for us to walk!) We had a rather long wait one evening between courses and the restaurant manager came to talk to us about it. He very kindly arranged for us to have a lobster dinner for my birthday with a lovely setting looking out over the sea. There was also a delicious cake and candles and some singing waiters. They also kept the cake for us in the fridge so we could have some with our afternoon tea on a couple of other days.
For a hotel this size, the choice of food and drinks on the AI was very good, the staff were all very friendly and helpful and we found it good value. We would definately consider going again and recommend it to our friends.

This hotel is simply pure relaxation small and intimate and very quiet if you want discos or karaoke don’t come here!
We have visited Mauritius on several occasions over the last 5 years and have enjoyed every visit, but this hotel is something different it is small and has an exclusive feel to it which belays its 4 star rating.
We were two couples and the wifes had a spa every day while we played golf most days
The spa the girls thought was fantastic we rate the course highly but be warned the humidity can be oppressive at times.
We were transferred to and from the golf course by buggy or minibus and the trip is only 5 or 10 minutes no waiting and the staff organized the trip whenever we were ready.
There are good practice facilities and the course itself was in great condition and was a tough challenge for us (9 and 12 handicaps)
The golf club restaurant and bar is included in the all inclusive and is well worth a visit to make a change from the hotel at lunchtime.

The rooms were almost as good as other 5 star hotels we have stayed in on Mauritius the gardens and small private pools gave the place an intimate atmosphere
There are two restaurants on site, the main restaurant is by the beach pool and dinner served alternately buffet and table d’hôte the food was good and for hotel size gave an excellent choice.
Breakfast was totally relaxing experience sublime views across Tamarina bay and because the hotel is so small we very rarely saw many people about no waiting at all and chef on hand to make breakfast to order great stuff!.
We simply cannot understand other complains on here about service we found that we could not empty our glasses without an drinks waiter appearing immediately to offer refills

However there was one small complaint although we thought that the all inclusive drinks was fine for most of the stay but at dinner the wine was limited and so we did spend a few extra rupees to get some half decent wine but that is a personal choice other people may find the house wine is ok

If you are looking for somewhere to completely unwind and relax this is the place

We will return!!

I booked 2 business men in that hotel this week and had lunch with them. A total disaster, it took 1/2 an hour to get our drinks, they did not have everything that appears on their menu, it took over an hour to get the food, they made a mistake with the order. Guess how long it took to get our bill. There is no air con in the restaurant ( temperature was over 35 degrees).
I was also told that the breakfast was again a total disaster.
In addition,, part of the access road is in bad shape, the parking for the hotel is too far from reception. The WIFI in their rooms was not working, one of the gentlemen was ill, no doctor on call. He was told to take a taxi and drive 45 minutes to a hospital.
In summary, don't go there
