The Mark Addy Inn is an excellent base of operations for winery and brewery tours in the Central Virginia region, being located right off Rte. 151 which is the main artery that connects most of the restaurants and tasting rooms. My wife and I stayed in the Colonel Room for two days for her birthday, and with a nominal fee, the staff placed a beautiful bouquet in the room for her. The deluxe room is well worth the higher price with its opulent size and access to the back terrace, where we quietly enjoyed a bottle of Virginia wine and some cheese in the lovely weather. We also purchased the wine lover's scavenger hunt, which took us to four nearby wineries and lunch at the Wild Wolf brewery. Breakfast is served at 9am sharp, so do take this schedule seriously and contact the staff if it doesn't work for you. Breakfast was delicious on both occasions (fruits and pastry followed by Southern comfort food), and we loved the view of the mountains from the dining room. The owners were away, but their son was very welcoming and a font of local knowledge (he was our driver for the winery/brewery tour). We loved the two adorable dogs on the property, but they may pose a problem for folks with allergies. Hope to come back again next year!

Room Tip: Rooms with access to the balcony porch are worth the premium during the spring, summer, and early fa...

My husband and I stayed at the Mark Addy Inn this past weekend. The owners were on vacation so their son, Jacob, was in charge. Jacob was very friendly and accommodating and did a nice job serving breakfast (eggs benedict, croissant, muffin, fruit cocktail -- very good). The inn was very charming and our suite, Elena, was very spacious and nicely furnished with period antiques (see photos). The king bed was comfortable and both of us slept very well. The room had a window AC unit which worked just fine. The bathroom, although quite small, was clean and nice. The inn has a 2-night minimum on the weekends but, since they were not fully booked, they waived that requirement since we could only stay one night.

The only reason this inn did not rate 5-stars was the exterior condition of the inn and surrounding property. The building is in need of maintenance, especially painting, and general sprucing up. Outside patio furniture was rusty and upholstery pretty dirty. The landscaping had many weeds and pathways also weed-ridden. The inn sits on a large lot but the grass was at least 3-feet high in front (with a mowed strip on either side of the driveway). The property, if mowed, would be quite spectacular for a guest to see when first arriving. For the price (over $200/night), I think the exterior should have been in better shape.

But I would definitely stay there again as you can't beat the beauty of the area and the proximity to numerous vineyards.

Had a nice relaxing weekend visiting wineries all around the region as it’s a great location to do so. Stayed in a pet-friendly room and brought our dog. They had treats and a water bowl awaiting our arrival. Great to have porch access to let the pup out. The grounds are nice to walk around. We arrived very late on Friday night with a note to welcome us and direct us to our room. Breakfast was good, and while the home shows signs of some old wear and tear, overall it is clean and charming. Owners are a bit quirky. Just keep in mind it is a B&B and not a 5 star hotel and your stay should be great.

We got the relaxing break we wished for at the Mark Addy! The decorations are beautiful and comfortable. We were very pleased with the Innkeeper Leslie's cheerful and helpful demeanor.
The excellent food served by her and her husband/chef Rafael were interesting and delicious.
The Mark Addy has a ton of charactor and charm that make the stay interesting. The beds were comfortable and the room well equipped--housekeeping service was also well done and unobtrusive.

Room Tip: The room 'Elena' and the 'Colonel' are large rooms with access to a great porch for...

My husband and I just spent the weekend at the Mark Addy Inn in Nellysford, VA. The Inn was just as advertised, beautiful and all the comforts. The food was incredible, breakfast was delicious. We also had dinner Saturday night and it was GREAT!
We booked a return visit in May 2013 for our sons UVA graduation weekend. Looking forward to another visit and exploring more of Nelson County.

Room Tip: We stayed inTiger Lily which was spacious and the bed was very comfortable!

We recently spent two nights at the Mark Addy Inn. Upon arrival, our first impression was of the ideal setting of the historic property, which is situated in the midst of Virginia's gorgeous blue mountains. However, things could've gone downhill very quickly for us. During check-in, I realized that we had arrived 1 week too early for our reservation! I'm not the most organized person in the world! However, we didn't need to worry. Leslie & Raffi, who own & run the Mark Addy, were able to more than accomodate us, despite MY screw-up on the reservation date. They provided us with a spacious, clean and adorable deluxe room for our stay. Since our original room reservation was organized with a scheduled "pub crawl" (driver guided tour of the local breweries), we were also looking at the possibility of missing out on this essential activity. However, Leslie did additional reorganizing and managed to arrange for such a tour with no prior notice. All of this reshuffling was done with a smile, and this type of treatment continued for the duration of our stay, as we were made to feel like we were more than simply "customers." We were treated to excellent recommendations for activities in and around the area and we were given extensive background on many of the local wineries, eateries, breweries and scenic trails.

The breakfast was fantastic, as was dinner in the Fountain Room. Raffi is a very talented cook and excellent conversationalist!

Overall, if you are looking to relax in a gorgeous rural setting within striking distance of Monticello & Charlottesville, with easy access to countless, local wineries and breweries, the Mark Addy is the right choice. I highly recommend it.

We spent two nights at the Mark Addy Inn. The rooms were spacious and the breakfast was incredible. The owners were so friendly and very informative about the surrounding attractions. There is so much to do in the area and not all wineries!! It was a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back again.
