I booked the weekend package which gets you full access to all the sites and buildings. Check in was smooth (aside from another lady "appalled" that they didnt have what she needed to make tea in her room behind the desk). We got our tickets and our room key plus the guy showed us where everything was. Our room was quite big! We had the 2nd floor balacony room. Nice king sized bed, comfy pillows. TV was a flat screen, no HD service. The TV line up lies, some of the channels we didnt get. Bathroom was clean and it had a vanity area. It has a really vintage charm to it. The tub was a bit small, decent shower, water was fairly hot. Wifi was spotty, as the closest one didnt work for me until the next day, the one farther away worked for a while then stopped working. The breakfast in the AM (we had $10 vouchers) was buffet style. The french toast sticks were terrible, but the rest was very good. We also ate there for dinner. A touch pricey but the food was very good. The lobby is VERY cool. My fiance used the bathroom in the lobby and said it was the worst smelling bathroom ever. Checkout was smooth and the staff was very friendly.

Our room was clean and comfortable but somewhat worn. The hallways were very shabby and in need of paint and re-carpeting. It looks as if it was in good shape years ago but just allowed to go down hill. We enjoyed the attractions and the people were very nice.

We stayed on a very quiet weekend in February, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Siobhan, the manager on duty was wonderful! We asked for an extra pillow and it was brought up right away, and the delivery person helped us work the TV remote too. The hotel is showing a little wear, but it is still a wonderful place to stay. We enjoyed having breakfast the next morning and taking a walk to the bridge. We will be back in the Spring or Summer to use our annual passes for all the fabulous sights.

Room Tip: We had a room on the third floor facing the back of the resort, with a king bed which was great. But...

My girlfriend and i stayed here on Valentines weekend, as we entered our room we immediately noticed dead flies in the window sill, the ceiling plaster had a large hole in it , causing debris to fall on our head , the pillows were soiled, the T.V. was an out dated picture tube style TV and it was only about 19 inches and was placed in a cabinet that could accomodate a 35 inch set. the walls and wallpaper were dirty and very outdated. the food in the dining room was excellent and the staff was very friendly.

Room Tip: please ask to see your room before making a final decision to check in

If you're on a long drive (like NYC to ATL), it's way more interesting than an exit ramp, cookie cutter chain hotel. But, it can be a little challenging to find in the dark. Rooms are rundown but the breakfast buffet was a surprisingly good start for day 2 of the drive. grounds and property are a blast from the past. Think "The Shining". Seeing the bridge is $19 so we skipped that. I can't imagine it as my destination but there were many foreign tourists on thanksgiving weekend Friday night.

My girlfriend and I booked the New Years Eve gala at the Natural Bridge Hotel. We stayed in the Patio rooms which were fine, not the Waldorf, but were adequate. The Buffet at the evening meal was excellent, there were 3 different kinds of meat, plus fish. On the salad bar were the usual fixings but there was also peel and eat shrimp, with a wonderful cocktail sauce. Later in the evening we went to the ball room which was set up with tables and party favors. The band that was there was excellent playing 60's, 70's and 80's tunes. I can say that we had a great time and ushered in the New Year. The next morning the breakfast buffet was also very good, Lots of things to eat. Omelets, hash browns, biscuits, gravy, grits, bacon, sausage, hot cakes, and numerous other items. I would reccomend this place to anyone as one of the best places to spend New Years.

Room Tip: Try to stay in the rooms in the hotel.

This is one of those Vestiges of a time gone by when travel and tourism was done by Motor Carriage. The Hotel is a bit worn around the edges, I won't say run down, just well used like a favorite toy. The Downstairs areas are nice, but the rooms and hallways have almos the same look as the hotel in the shining. The rooms have comfortable and clean beds and the balcony room we staid in hide a very nice view, pity their was a major , well traveled, road out front of the hotel.

Hotel is convient to area actractions, being across the street. The onsite dining room is decent and you can tell the staff at least cares about the food and the locals all eat there. Front desk staff seemed a bit strained, but overall were friendly, along with other managment staff.

Oh an excellent note is that this hotel uses older style key locks and has not upgraded to the sundafe swipe locks which is a huge bonus. their is decent on site Wi-fi free of charge.

Stories of the hotel being haunted might be slightly overblown, but the one staff member we asked did have a story to relate so it is not ghost free!

This place makes a great stay in the mountains detination, but a lodge or resort it is not. So accept it for what it is and you will be fine.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms let you watch the sunrise over the mountains in the morning between your toes!
