Natural Bridge Historic Hotel & Conference Center
Ranked #1 of 2 Hotels in Natural Bridge

As the title says, location. This hotel is literally right across the street from the entrance to see the Natural Bridge and has a tunnel walkway under the road to get there-very convenient.

The hotel itself is very run down and not the cleanest or best kept. For a hotel built in 1963 (I think) it was expected though. I kept thinking "Shining" as I walked around...the staff was very friendly but not very knowledgeable as far as wifi access and anything invented past 1970 I would assume :).

My wife & I stayed at Natural Bridge Hotel for our 12th anniversary getaway. The hotel is an older property that was obviously first-class in its day. It has been well maintained and we enjoyed our stay. My wife said it reminded her of scenes from the movie "Dirty Dancing".

Room Tip: Check room before you accept, the first room they gave us smelled of cigarette smoke. They changed o...

My husband and I stayed at the Natural Bridge Hotel for one night in September 2012. We reserved the "President's Package" which included overnight accommodations, the seafood buffet, and tickets to all the local attractions. I reserved a Balcony room which overlooked the parking lot and the wax museum, with the mountains looming behind these structures. Our room could have used some extra cleaning, but overall wasn't too bad. We always wipe everything down with Clorox wipes when we check-in, so I noticed that the switch plates on the light switches were pretty grimey, as well as the mirrors and faucets. I found a long hair on my toilet seat, but wiped it all up so that it met our "demands" of cleanliness. The patio was a little disappointing. We were in a room that shared the patio space with another room, and there weren't enough chairs for more than 3 people. Also - there is no privacy on the patio, as there are no "walls" between rooms.

The linens looked like they had recently been updated and the bed was very comfortable. The A/C unit was a little strange and we could never quite get the temperature right in the room. The front desk staff could have been a little friendlier too. They seemed to be a little burned out or tired of their jobs, and not very helpful.

All of the attractions are within a short walk (with the exception of the caverns which are about a 1/4 mile down the road). All of the people who collected tickets at the attractions were very friendly and helpful. Also - the dining room staff and bar staff in the hotel itself were very nice. We took advantage of the seafood buffet, and it could use a little improvement (lots of fried food). The all-you-can-eat crablegs were a bit hard to get out of the shell, but the rest of the food was decent. The dining room manager was very nice and let us sit in the bar area where it was less noisy and chaotic. We were celebrating my husband's birthday dinner, so this was very much appreciated.

I also really wish that this place had a pool or a fitness center - that would make the price a little more justifiable.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay. This is a hotel that was probably super nice in it's day, but it could use a little freshening up.

Room Tip: There was stomping overhead in my room on the 2nd floor. If you're a light sleeper, go for a to...

Neat place to visit with young kids. The staff was extremely friendly and the location was beautiful. The visit was kind of like going back to a 1960's resort. The kids loved the butterfly exhibit, and wax museum. Parents liked the beautiful dining room and the bridge. The toy museum left a lot to be desired - all the toys were displayed at eye/hand level on shelves with big NO Touching signs -- a totally unrealistic request for kids. The display of toys looked like an old collection from someone's garage. Good variety, but hardly no description of the historic significance of the toys.

Overall it was a fun/quick/pretty trip from DC. Great place for young elementry aged kids. All the food was delicious - suggest looking at the breakfast menu instead of jumping right to the buffet, as the prices on the menue were even less than the buffet which was only $9.

Rooms were nice - have to admit we didn't spend much time in them since we were outside for the majority of the visit.

Room Tip: Suggest requesting a room with a view, the patios were very nice.

The staff was very friendly, checking in and out was a breeze. Hotel is clean but needs some updating. Beds were ok, recommend you bring your own pillows. Breakfast buffet was good. All in all, a pleasant stay for one night.

Room Tip: Recommend a room in the front of the hotel for a view of the mountains.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Natural Bridge Hotel last week. We knew it was an older hotel (rebuilt in 1963/4), and we were expecting the facilities to be merely adequate, but what we found was an amazingly beautiful lobby and adjacent dining room. Upon entering our room we were again suprised at how spacious and well decorated it was. Plus, we had a great wi-fii connection in our room and on our patio (on second floor). The room, including the bathroom was clean and was equipped with a refrigerator, and a tv located inside an impressive armoir. If you are tired of cookie cutter hotels, you may enjoy this hotel as much as we did. It has all the modern conveniences we are accustomed to,while maintaining a colonial feel.
