“Great out of doors experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2014

If you want to picnic - they have a nice picnic area. If you want to ride your horse on some mountain trails, they have great horse trails. If you want to hike on foot, you can pick from several great trails - and one even takes you by the wild ponies on Mt Rogers!

“Loved the Ponies”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2014

Even though it was a nice day, there was a lot of snow left in the park and some drifts over a foot deep. That just made the hike more enjoyable to me. It was wet where the snow was melting, so I was glad to have on waterproof hiking boots. We hiked uphill a bit before spotting the first ponies in a field some distance away. We went over for a better look, then proceeded on uphill. In a while we came upon about a dozen ponies. They were delightful!

Great place for hiking. There is a museum there and you may get to see the wild ponies. It's a nice trip to the mountains.

“Absolutely breathtaking!”

Located off Hwy 58, the winding road one will never forget! Great horseback and hiking trails, incredible views, and music festivals during the summer. Definite summertime destination for family and couples...remote and quiet!

“Beautiful park!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2014

Sorry this review is so law, we actually visited in early July. Being a highland park it was wonderfully cool during a really hot spell. We really enjoyed the hiking and the ponies were just awesome. My 12yo was in heaven! Our only regret was that we didn't have more time to spend, but will definitely be back.
