Owner description: CrossKeys Vineyards is a beautiful 125 acre estate with 35 acres of vineyards. This small batch, family run winery currently produces around 8,000 cases of 12 different wines per year that are estate grown, produced, and bottled. With the first vines planted in 2001 and our first harvest in 2006, the winery opened its doors in May of 2008. In late 2012, the CrossKeys Bistro, our onsite restaurant, was established. In addition CrossKeys hosts many events, both public and private, and of course lots of weddings.

This is a younger vineyard in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. Great French varietal wines (with one Portuguese). It's a small family owned business with informative and friendly employees. Take the tour, try some wine, and dine on a nice selection for lunch or snacks inside or on the beautiful patio. They also apparently rent for weddings and events. It would seem to be a beautiful location for a wedding.

We arrived on a rainy afternoon for a wine tasting and tour. There is a minimal charge for both. On driving up to the property it was very impressive and for a moment I forgot I was in Virginia. There was a fund raiser scheduled for the afternoon but we were still able to go on the tour and taste several wines. The tour guide had a lot of information and was able to answer all the questions from our group. We took advantage of the rainy weather and sat by the fire. The menu was limited due to the fund raiser but we had a nice lunch and glass of wine. There is plenty of patio space for sitting and enjoying the view and relaxing.

The location was amazing. The views were amazing. The place was so busy and packed with guests visiting the winery and also guests of a wedding. It was a little overcrowded. We did a full wine tasting and liked most of the wines. The Meritage and Pinot Noir were my favorites. We also had lunch in a room upstairs. There were two problems with lunch...the gnats and the kitchen closed hallway through our lunch. The gnats were everywhere. I don't know what you could do to alleviate this, but it is just not a pleasant experience to eat while swatting flies away. I did not notice any gnats downstairs in the tasting room though. So we ordered lunch and it was good. But we wanted to order desert as well and we were told that we could stay and drink but the kitchen had closed due to the wedding so we couldn't order any more food. I totally understand shutting down the kitchen for an event, but we should have been advised prior to them closing in case we wanted to order anything else. I also feel like there should be a sign somewhere of the kitchen hours when you get there. Many other tables were upstairs and tried to order food or more food and were told the same thing. Overall the winery is beautiful. The location cant be beat. If we were ever in the area again we would come back.

Stopped at this vineyard on a recent family trip and loved it. The setting and views were gorgeous. There were a lot of people there at the same time so the wine tasting experience was a bit rushed. The fireplace helped with the ambiance and the wine was good.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We also appreciate your feedback about the wine tasting. We are trying to come up with a solution that will allow us to do a higher volume of wine tastings without the guests feeling rushed. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you and we hope you come back to visit us again!
