Good for: Scenic view
Dining options: Dinner, Lunch, Private Dining, Reservations
Description: Dine in the Colonial Days. Historic good taste is the specialty of the Inn, with authentic Regional American Cuisine available with advanced notice to larger groups in one of our antique filled dining rooms. This week we're open on Friday at 4 PM and Saturday & Sunday at noon with a pub-style menu. We'll be closed from Monday through Wednesday during the winter. We plan to expand our dining options to include a Sunday Brunch and other dining opportunities but the tavern is the only dining currently open. If you have a group of 15 or more we will cater to your dining needs with options available for any budget. For cocktails, the Coachyard Lounge welcomes you to relax where horse-drawn carriages once entered the inn.

The Wayside is on its way back to its former glory with their capable new owners! We had a very good meal and great service in this interesting and historic Inn.

This review is for the Wayside Tavern (part of the Wayside Inn). The entire property is under new ownership. We were traveling north and decided to give the new ownership a try on New Year's Eve (at 6 PM). Calling ahead we were told only the Tavern was open and reservations were not required. There were several dozen cars in the parking lot (which is a good sign - right?). The Tavern is dark and drafty with a choppy setup. We stood for a minute then went to a side room where the "owner??" was sitting drinking coffee. He finally got up and asked if we had reservations. Hello? It is a Tavern and we were told you didn't take reservations. We sat and he went for a waitress. Another couple came in and a lady came to take care of them - giving menus, water and taking their order. Finally, 20 minutes into the ordeal the same gentleman came over with menus and thanked up for our patience stating a waitress would be right over. After more waiting --- we got up and left.

Maybe the next owners will staff for New Years Eve more appropriately.

We are very sorry to hear you had that experience here on New Year’s Eve. As you said, we were not staffed appropriately for the evening and we do apologize for that (and for your frustrating wait). We were still "working the kinks out" then and we are working hard to safeguard against making the same mistake.

We would like to invite you to return to the inn at your convenience to give us another try and to enjoy a meal on us. (We are also always open to suggestion about how you think we can improve, including your thoughts on the Tavern. Perhaps over coffee or tea?) Hope to see you soon.
