“Wonderful Dinner”
Reviewed June 13, 2010

We dined at the Red Fox Inn to celebrate a special occasion and were not disappointed. We both had the Filet Mignon and it was cooked to perfection. We also added a crab cake and it was wonderful. The sides of goat cheese grits and asparagus were delicious. The Guiness Battered Brie was just okay, I'd probably get a different appetizer next time. The wine selection was nice, and service was very attentive. We ate in the tavern part of the dining room which wasn't as nice as the front room with the fireplace, but still charming. We'll definitely be back!

“Tasty in Middleburg”
Reviewed April 21, 2010

We have 6 different orders and everyone loved their meal. The lambburger was especially delicious and the grits were flavored with cheese and were really good. The BLAT with the smoky bacon and avocado made it so much more than just a run of the mill BLT. Second time eating there and all the meals were consistently excellent.

“Good food, pleasant atmosphere”
Reviewed May 13, 2009

We had a weekday lunch in this restaurant. It is a lovely historic tavern, with good food and on the Tuesday lunch time we were there enough other diners to give the place a good atmosphere, I imagine it could get busier in the evenings and in the summer. The food was very tasty. The staff were very friendly. I would definately say it is worth a stop or a detour to eat here. Also, try some local wine, we had a glass of red and wine which both had interesting flavours.

“A historic and charming place to dine and visit.”
Reviewed March 30, 2009

My wife and I stopped by the Red Fox for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We loved the colonial charm and the coziness of the dining areas. We had a table near an original 18th century fireplace which was very nice on account of the chilly and rainy spring day.

We each had a sandwich from the lunch menu, which is very reasonably priced in comparison to the dinner menu which ranged from around $25 - $40 a plate. The food was delicious and the service was very prompt and friendly. We will definitely make the Red Fox a regular stop when we are in Middleburg.

“Great Place for a Day in the Country- the Red Fox”
Reviewed March 10, 2009

I have taken friends and family here for lunch or dinner and had great food and service every time. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Great crabcakes. Today a friend and I rode out for a day in the country (she'd never been to Middleburg) and had lunch at the Red Fox. I had a tenderloin beef wrap with bleu cheese dressing and veggies which was super, and the soup du jour, which was a mushroom soup with Madiera. The dining rooms downstairs are also particularly lovely on a chilly day like we had today with the fireplaces going. I am a history buff too. The restaurant also has a lot of history from colonial times on; it was where Pierre Salinger held some of JFK's press conferences during the 1960 Presidential campaign, and Jackie O was also a frequent diner (they have some of her letters). It's little pricey, but I've seen places charge more for less quality.
