The food was okay. My white clam in linguine sauce was flavorless, not enough garlic, couldn't taste any wine and not enough salt. My friend's mussels in red sauce was so salty, he couldn't finish the dish. My son said his pizza slice was "Okay". My husband said his lasagne was good, not as good as Bertucci's. Just a mediocre restaurant that I would not visit again.

As we were staying at Massanutten we decided to check tripadvisor for good places to eat outside the resort. We chose Romano's Italian Bistro as the reviews were good and were not disappointed! The restaurant was busy but we were seated right away. Service was good and I had the spagetti with meat sauce and my husband had the cheese ravoli, each had a salad (really big) and garlic bread. The spagetti sauce was flavored well and not out of a can! And the ravoli was great too. The portions were very large and you could have taken some home if you were not a big eater. There were tables and booths and the place was not fancy but had an Italian decor. It was alittle noisey as they were full and the ceiling were high and hard surfaces with little material at the windows. The prices were good and we would go there again as perfect location for Massanutten Resort. We decided on this instead of the buffet at the resort as that location did not have good reviews and Romano's was rated high. Trip advisor contributors were right!

Not surprisingly - the owner is from Italy. We had pizza and penne vodka (with shrimp)- all perfectly cooked & delicious. SO worth a visit...we'll be back for sure.

Romano's pleasantly surprised us with the quality of food and service. You get authentic Italian food prepared with care at very reasonable prices.

We started with fried calamari that were tender with just the right amount of breading. A deal at $6.75.
For our main courses we ordered Veal Parmigiana and Veal al Limone Piccata (~$15 ea.). The portions were large, the veal pounded thin and tender, and the sauces were excellent. We asked for the side pastas "very al dente" and they came out with a great bite.

The service was terrific. Glasses always refilled without wait or asking, all questions answered, and a pleasant attitude.

All in all, if you are in the area it is well worth a stop.
