All-around great vacation spot. We exchanged for a specific unit that was located on a hill up a bunch of steps, so we requested a change to the more level-side of the street. Kim & Mary at the front desk fixed us right up and even found one that allowed us to check in 2 hours early. Every employee we had contact with was very professional and friendly. Now about our villa - rustic design and very spacious 2-story with vaulted ceiling. There is a full bath on each floor. The main floor bath has a double whirlpool tub, separate shower, and a sauna. The upstairs bath is a standard tub/shower. Both are off the hall (not adjoining any of the bedrooms.) All bedrooms are upstairs. The master has a king bed and small TV. The other has a full size bed. (there is plenty of room for a portacrib, too) There is also a loft area that has 2 twin beds that could be put together to make a king. There is a small deck off the loft. On the main level is an open living area with fireplace, (sofa bed-so total sleeping capacity is 8), flat panel TV with DVD player and large dining table with a spacious kitchen. There was a jennair grill which was great! There was another deck on this level. The offset design of the building gave every unit lots of privacy. The buildings are not new but maintenance has obviously been considered a priority. Our furnishings were newer and everything was very clean. (i didn't even use my fabreeze.) There are not washers in the units, but towels can be exchanged for free and towels are available at the pools as well. There is lots to do here, some free but most not. Free: indoor & outdoor pools, weight rooms, gym, and board games to borrow. AND I almost forgot, the villa has FREE wi-fi. (OK, it's not the fastest, but we could post to Facebook.). $$$: go karts, mini golf, crafts, horseback riding, arcade, golf, water park & more. Not to miss-the ski lift in the spring or summer for $6/person. This was a perfect location to enjoy nature, relax, and read a good book, while the kids enjoyed all the other stuff.

We had a great time. Our unit was excellent and had everything we needed. The sauna was great! The property was well maintained and the areas was beautiful. There is a lot to do in the area, but, if you just wanted a place to get away for awhile, this certainly is the place. The clerks at the desk during check-in and out were very friendly and efficient. Thanks for a great time! This is a place worth a second visit.

We've been to Massanutten Resort properties before, but this was our first stay at Mountainside Villas. I'd give Mountainside an average to very good rating. The units were very large, with the largest kitchen I've ever seen in a timeshare. Unfortunately, would have traded some of the spaciousness for a washer/dryer in the unit. Some of the furniture was pretty worn out (e.g. 5 of 7 drawers on dresser in second bedroom were broken off their sliders), but most furniture and appliances were in good condition. Could have used a cosmetic touch up, but also generally in good condition.

As for the Resort as a whole, I give it and the surrounding areas and activities a very good to excellent. The wildlife was clearly used to the humans, with the deer coming right up below our deck practically begging for food. The extra activities (waterpark, tubing, zip line, nature center, etc.) at Massanutten Resort are not free, but they are generally well done, in good condition, and add to our vacations. In almost every trip to Massanutten we have spent 2-4 days without leaving the resort. The pools and the Waterpark are favorites.

If you aren't familiar with Massanutten Resort, Mountainside Villas are one of many developments under the umbrella. We've stayed in a few but not all of the different developments. All have been better than average but not perfect. We keep going back.

We have been coming to Mountainside Villas for 30 years in mid-March and have experienced everything from 22" of snow in 24 hours to 70+ degree weather. We love it. Believe it or not

Our second visit to Massanutten was even better than the first. The Villas have been refurbished, and are very comfortable. We were fortunate to have snow the first of the week in mid January. Fun tubing! Then it warmed comfortably the best of the week. Lots to see and do in the area, so everyone in the family had something to enjoy.

Everyone had a fun full day at the water park, too. We will be back.

Room Tip: The two bedroom villa had plenty of extra sleeping space.

This was our 2nd stay at the Villas, and while we didn't think it could top the first, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was wonderfully accomodating and the unit was perfect for our family and friends. We weren't lucky enough to get snow, but there is so much to do it didn't matter. There's ample of room for cooking and entertaining, and the sauna is divine! Its so beautiful, peaceful and well maintained. My kids loved watching the many deer that live around the area. We can't wait to go back.

Overall I was very pleased with the Villa....very spacious and tastefully decorated. My biggest concern was access in/out of the doors. Front lawn was very steep with no steps directly at door and while getting to the back door was an easy walk once you got up the hill, it was dark in the back of the Villa at night.

Room Tip: Be sure to inquire if there is an access road in the rear of the building to unload/load your luggag...
