We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and dinner at the Francis Marion. We participated in the Italian wine tasting dinner which could not have been better. The chef is amazing. Friends who joined us agreed that the food was perfect and we have all eaten and highly rated restaurants around the U.S. and beyond. Hope they will be able to retain the chef...he would be welcome anywhere! We stayed in one of the mini-suites and were very pleased with the room and amenities. Hotel has been restored and is very charming with lots of character. Great weekend getaway. We will return!

The wine tasting was a great success. Tastings have been scheduled for the balance of 2014. The next tasting will be on April 26th and will have a Spanish theme. We are glad that your experience was so positive and we look forward to welcoming you at future tastings. Chef Marcus A. Blackstone is the creative force behind the menu and the kitchen at The Black Rooster Restaurant. We hope that you treat yourself soon. Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel and wine tasting on TripAdvisor.

We stayed at the hotel during the Bristol Motor Speedway. All hotels in the area were $200+ a night. The Francis Marion was $99 and a great deal. The rooms were clean. The decor was beautiful and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back again and would recommend the hotel to anyone.

Stayed at this hotel with my fiancé for 1 night we will definitely be back for a longer stay. This cozy hotel was the perfect getaway! Clean, spacious bathroom, and a beautiful canopy bed that was very comfortable.
Very accommodating and helpful staff. Breakfast included and late checkout.
Drawbacks would definitely be no refrigerator in room and out dated television set.

We are delighted that you and your fiancée enjoyed our hotel. The canopy bed in the traditional queen room makes for a romantic setting. It is one of my favorite rooms.. There is an abundance of activities in and around Marion and this summer our town will be hosting numerous street parties and events. We look forward to your next visit. Thanks for taking the time to review us on Trip Advisor.

This is a beautiful old hotel in downtown Marion. Reasonably priced. Clean. The only drawback is it doesn't have coffee/tea in the rooms. Worth a short detour from your regular route. Not many dining places if you arrive in the evening. Bar on site. Food is ok.

We are pleased that you recognize the great value in our hotel rates; clean, beautifully appointed rooms, all designed in keeping with the historic 1927 ambiance. Although we do not have coffee/tea makers in the individual rooms, our front desk is staffed 24 hours and any of our guest services representatives would be happy to bring you coffee or tea. An exciting addition to our property is underway; 27 Lions, a 27 tap bar with an open kitchen is slated to open at the end of May, 2014. Thank you for taking the time to review us on Trip Advisor.

My husband and I were traveling last night through a snowstorm. We took the nearest exit and discovered the General Francis Marion. It was so wonderful to be welcomed by the staff into this beautiful hotel. The man at the front desk even upgraded us. Everything is very clean and has well appointed and pretty rooms. Breakfast is included where you can have eggs and waffles prepared. Cereals, toast and juices are also available.

We are glad that the hotel served you well as your "port in the storm." All the staff are proud of our hotel and that pride is reflected in the level of service to our guests. We hope that you can return here and enjoy the town of Marion and dine with us at The Black Rooster Restaurant and Lounge. Chef Marcus Blackstone works his magic Monday through Saturday.

I recently stayed at this historic hotel for the night before a friend's wedding. The room was beautifully decorated, spacious and clean. I also used the room to dress the bride for her wedding the following afternoon, so took advantage of their 2pm late checkout. Both the evening and morning staff were very personable and customer oriented. The morning staff person, especially, went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. She even stepped in as a photographer for a few pictures. Most helpful!
