Early Mountain is a gorgeous place. The building with the event space and tasting room is impressive and huge. I stopped there twice this past weekend while roaming around the area. The first night we stopped the place was pretty busy but the bar and wait staff were all really really nice. Service was a little on the slow side but it's the perfect place to linger so it didn't really matter. The next day we brought the rest of our large group (11 in total) because we had loved it so much. They managed to mess up almost all of our orders (i.e. I ordered 2 of the same sandwhich and one came out 35 minutes before the other). They were not particularly accomodating the 3 times we tried to point this out to them. I will say the food was delicious when it finally came out. It would be a nice place for a romantic evening as well. This place has the potential to be spectacular, they just need to figure out how to manage everything when it gets really busy.

Turn into the driveway and be prepared to be "WOWed"! One of the largest tasting rooms in our state, complete with a two-sided wood burning fireplace, lovely music and a combination of some of VA's best wines to taste. The flights are a great way to try different varieties. We each purchased a different flight and shared with one another. What we enjoyed, is that you may order from the tasting bar, and then be seated and they will bring your tastings/flights to your table. The place was bustling with activity at 5pm, and we were happy to know they were open until 8, so we were able to enjoy our wines and listen to the music without being rushed. It is a little more expensive in comparison, but the ambiance, staff and level of wine warrant the fees. Looking forward to returning soon!

We stopped in to the Early Mountain Vineyard for a sampling and had a very enjoyable visit. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Out door has a large fireplace for the cooler times. They offered four different sampling "flights" of four different wines, a mix of whites and reds. The atmosphere is great for couples or for small groups. They do have wedding catering and receptions -- we observe one of these, and it was seiparate from the main area, so not overwhelming the more casual area. They have an excellent selection of wines, and offer lunch type foods as well as cheese dishes. Wish we had found this before we had lunch at a different place!

We have the good fortune of having a second home nearby and whenever guests come to visit we take them to Early Mountain Vineyards for Paninis and Wine. Our guests are always impressed. The atmosphere is totally relaxing. The owners have put a lot of thought into guests comfort...from the local based food menu to the fire pits and hammocks. The views are beautiful and the facility itself is gorgeous. A great place for a reception. I think they even have a meeting room for business. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor grounds. Water dishes are provided.

This little gem is tucked away in the rural heaven of Madison, VA about 2.5 hours from Washington, DC. We visited during a long weekend (3rd weekend of September, perfect weather!) at the nearby Lydia Mountain Cabins in Standardsville, VA.

At this time, the vineyard only has three wines which are grown and produced at the vineyard. I was disappointed they didn't have a tasting option offering only their products. Instead they currently have three tasting options to choose from featuring what they consider to be the "Best of Virginia" which features a nice selection of reds and whites for differing palettes. My personal favorite was the flavorful Early Mountain 2011 Viognier.

The tasting room is huge and elegant so if you're planning a special event this most definitely is a place to consider. The backdrop to the sprawling vineyard is the gorgeous scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains. You'll find comfy over sized couches and an upscale ambiance inside the spacious atrium area. Outside is an area complete with hammocks, picnic tables, fire pits and lots of space to spread out while enjoying the wine and majestic views. This vineyard/winery produces delicious wine and is well worth the trip to visit!
