My friends and I stayed in Chalet #11 for a long President's Day Weekend. The owners were more than accommodating when we needed an extra key to get into the house. They even came by and treated the hot tub while we were at the slopes without us asking! The dumpsters were snowed in, so the owners came by and took our bagged trash from our deck daily. The house itself was also great! Plenty of beds and sleeping space, a large hot tub, and clean! Thanks Royals Oaks for a great stay, WE WILL BE BACK!

We spent 3 nights and 4 days in Chalet #11 for Christmas and could not have been more pleased! The owners are very personable and excellent to work with. Our chalet was clean, well equipped, and we thoroughly enjoyed the ammenities such as a hot tub, gas fireplace, and gorgeous night sky views. The free wi-fi was slow and spotty but you are up in the mountains and we were not expecting any connectivity so we were happy with what we got. I would echo the other positive reviewers and suggest you ignore the negative reviews. We had a great time and were very pleased with our time at Royal Oaks. It's a great location for a great price. We will be back.

If you are tired of the hustle, bustle and constant barrage of data in an everyday life, then Royal Oaks Cabins is a must see. The cabin was cozy with a fire place and jacuzzi tub. The kitchen had everything needed to make an amazing romantic dinner. The sky was ablaze with stars and even the milky way was visible, which was a first for us. The total quiet of nature was comforting and rejuvenating. If you want to reconnect with your loved one or create a new connection with someone special, then you absolutely need to visit this place. Please ignore the negative reviews. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back.

Room Tip: We had a stand alone cabin, which was perfect.

Sadly we only had one night at Royal Oaks Cabins and really wish we had longer. We nearly didn't book as some previous reviews were so negative but were glad we ignored them. We had Cabin 6 which was spotlessly clean, well equipped and really comfortable. The site was as it was described - quiet and a real 'get away from it all'. We were really welcomed and chatted for a long time with the owner who couldn't have been more helpful. This isn't a 'resort' as such - it's cabins in the woods. We really enjoyed the jacuzzi bath in front of the fire. We had brought food with us to cook ( not expecting there to be grocery shops on the Blue Ridge Parkway) and after dinner enjoyed watching a DVD that we had borrowed from the onsite shop. It was wonderfully quiet and peaceful - a real escape. For a romantic get away this was perfect. Thank you.

The website is misleading. Mountain views are poor, cabins are not well maintained, accommodations are outdated, no phone or internet service available, owners are unprofessional and dishonest, and service is non-existent after store closes.

My husband and I decided to spend a much-needed "date weekend" away from our family business. We work very hard and were looking for a somewhat secluded, quiet place to spend our weekend. We chose Royal Oaks Cabins without references, and were going only by what we saw on-line. Our choice was perfect! The private cabins, as well as the owners of Royal Oaks were absolutely wonderful!

The cabins were very cute, clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our weekend. We enjoyed the gas fireplace and had a jetted tub in the room. The owners were very hospitable and eager to help with anything we needed. They worked with us on staying an extra day, they offered us tons of guidance on where to go, and let us know about festivals/happenings going on in the area for the weekend.

I highly recommend Royal Oaks if you are looking for that rustic yet comfortable get-away in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. We will go back again!

This was my first time in the mountains on a vacation and it turned out to be fabulous. The chalet at Royal Oaks had everything, plenty of room, beautiful views and all of the amenities{ clean rooms, full kitchen, fireplace, grill}. My favorite activity was the hot tub on the deck overlooking the mountains. There is nothing as relaxing or romantic than sitting in the tub with a harvest moon rising overhead. I think something magical happens in a place like this. Besides all of the activities in the area{hiking, skiing, driving and checking out the beautiful overlooks}, just relaxing in the chalet was a welcome change. This type of vacation can be anything you want. We had a nice mixture of both the activities and enjoying the chalet. Also, the staff at Royal Oaks was very helpful with directions and really make you feel comfortable. I am hoping to return. This experience could become a habit for me.

Room Tip: The chalet has everything. Lots of room, beautiful views and privacy. I can't comment on the cab...
