My husband and I took a bicycle trip through central Virginia, ending in Lynchburg. Ann and Phil could not have been more helpful, from yummy snacks on our arrival to giving us the full breakfast at an exceptionally early hour and taking us and our folded bikes over to the AMTRAK station in time for the 7:30 AM train. They had great suggestions for dinner and also the least hilly way to get from downtown to their place. The home is beautiful, with lots of gorgeous details and handsome furnishings. Loved the gas fireplaces--very cheery and romantic way to take the March chill off.

We happened upon this lovely home while wandering around Lynchburg looking for a place to stay. Even though we were quite unexpected, Ann and Phil welcomed us as warmly as if we had been long awaited family or friends! We settled into the Dogwood room with its four poster canopy bed and working fireplace and enjoyed the handpainted dogwood theme in the spacious bathroom adjoining our room. When we returned for the night, we found chocolates on our pillow and the bed turned down for the night. In the morning, we were treated to a full delicious breakfast so beautifully presented it almost seemed a shame to eat it! The fresh flowers garnishing the plates were so lovely. The home itself is spacious and beautifully furnished with family photos and Ann's own artwork adorning the walls providing a warm and homey touch! We've stayed in many B & B's over the years, but this one sets the bar high for all others! We cannot recommend Federal Crest Inn highly enough!

Room Tip: All the rooms were lovely and well appointed with many beautiful touches such as handpainted walls i...

We had to travel to Lynchburg, VA for a funeral. I emailed the night before our trip and asked Ann if there was a possible discount for a family coming for a funeral. She promptly answered my request and offered us a generous discount. We were able to sleep in one room and our son in an adjoining room and my brother traveled from NY and they put him and my sister in law in a great suite close to us. The food was wonderful and they were so kind and gracious. The reason for the trip was sad but Ann and Phil made it an overall good experience.

My wife and I stayed one night and had such a delightful time, we extended our trip another night. The house is absolutely beautiful both in it's turn-of-the-century architecture and interior decor. The antique furniture, hardwood floors, and fireplace in the room made it the perfect romantic getaway. The Innkeepers, Ann and Phil, could not have been more friendly and accommodating (even making a gluten-free breakfast for me). The dining room was very elegant and made for a wonderful backdrop for a yummy breakfast! I would highly recommend it to anyone and we hope to return.

My husband and I were traveling through Lynchburg after visiting with family for Thanksgiving. We decided to split the trip up and spend a relaxing night in a bed and breakfast. We were so glad we decided on the Federal Crest Inn. Our Innkeepers, Ann and Phil, were lovely and made us feel so welcome. We stayed in the Dogwood Room. The fireplace was warm and cozy and the beautiful sideboard in the entrance hallway filled with delicious treats and drinks.
We had the most wonderful breakfast in the holiday candlelit decorated dining room. It was elegantly presented and delicious! What a great respite and a nice mini-vacation.

Room Tip: I peaked into all the rooms and they all looked great and had working fireplaces.

My sister and I were lucky enough to find the Federal Crest Inn during a recent visit to Virginia. What a beautiful experience! The "Inn" is a lovely mansion sitting regally on a hill in the historic district of Lynchburg. It is surrounded by a beautiful garden which has an award winning magnolia tree. We felt so welcome and pampered by our hosts, that we almost felt like a special relatives visiting the area! The rooms are elegant with period antiques, but, they are cozy and inviting. I really wanted to stay and curl up with a book in one of the parlors to soak up as much of the atmosphere, charm, and peaceful beauty as I could. Phil and Ann served a delightful, four star breakfast - complete with a garnish of flowers from the garden. What a beautiful touch. I really want to bring my husband back to this lovely corner of Virginia to show him the real art of Southern hospitality. The Rigley's bed and breakfast is wonderful. I will be back to this gem!

Room Tip: The Dogwood room was lovely.

My daughter and I were on college visits in Virginia and had a wonderful stay here. The house is lovely and has so many neat details, furnishings and paintings. The hosts, Ann and Phil, are so warm and friendly. The room was at the same time both spacious and cozy with its roaring fireplace and inviting decor, many things beautifully hand-painted by Ann. We loved staying in the Dogwood room. Ann's breakfast was delicious and had so many wonderful "finishing touches" to the food and the table. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer! Definitely a place we will return to and will recommend to anyone who is traveling to or through the Harrisonburg/Charlottesville/Lynchburg/Blacksburg corridor.
