“An unexpected gem”
Reviewed December 29, 2013 via mobile

We traveled to Lynchburg, VA for a memorial service and really haven't been here in many years. My wife found this hotel on line and it had the best ratings of all the locals. Upon arrival we were greeted with great service and hospitality. The hotel was transformed from an old shoe factory and the interior still maintains the century old wooden beam work and ceilings and brick walls customary to an industrial early 1900s building. The rest of the decor was very well done with a variety of interesting and impressive finishes and textures. Our daughter is only 4, so we opt for a suite when we can, so we can put her to bed and relax in the other room. The suite at this hotel was fantastic, with a desk, chair, couch, and comfy chair in the living room. The room had a keurig coffee maker with six pods of various types, and a mini fridge with two bottles of water. The bathroom was beautiful with tile and marble a deep jacuzzi tub and a separate glass shower. Several restaurants are in the adjacent building connected by a breezeway and the pizza place was incredible. The one charming feature was the continental breakfast. If you want breakfast, you fill out a slip saying how many you want (first was included in our rate) and you put that in a large shoe shine box and set it outside your room. In the morning the shoe shine box was there with your breakfast in it. Nice touch. Throughout the hotel the shoe factory history is worked into the decor and theme.

The hotel was amazing. Old wooden beams, super tall ceilings, exposed old brick. So cool. The service was amazing. Micro brew pub on bottom floor, which an awesome lady wearing cowboy boots escorted us down to. Can't wait to stay again!!! Doug B

Wear it! We loved this hotel and will continue to use it on our trips to Lynchburg. The theme of the shoe factory is marvelous and we certainly enjoyed the breakfast items. We will always remember the hotel and its friendliness.

Room Tip: Don't fret about the trains! The sound will put you to sleep! I didn't know about the hotel...

Excellent accommodations and extremely pleasant staff. Book early because this place fills up fast! Loved the decorum - bathroom with great tub for soaking, breakfast in bed - super comfy.

The pictures in the hallways were awesome.

Now need an excuse to go back.

Our family stayed at the Craddock Terry hotel while in Lynchburg for a wedding. I am not familiar with the Lynchburg area but this hotel was conveniently located to everything we needed. The hotel was such a pleasant surprise. The rooms were all very spacious and comfortable. I loved the architectural details throughout the hotel. The shoe theme lends such a unique and "fun" theme to the whole experience. I loved all the details. The staff was top notch. Every employee I spoke to was very friendly and helpful but most importantly they all seemed genuinely happy. The price was certainly reasonable for the overall experience. I believe I would like to travel to Lynchburg again just to experience more of what this hotel has to offer.

When visiting my daughter's college, we always try to stay at this wonderful hotel. A few times we hag not booked early enough and ended up staying elsewhere - usually a chain hotel along a busy highway. I have stayed here alone several times and always feel comfortable as a solo female traveller. The Craddock Terry is located along the James River in the historic downtown area. This area is currently being revitalized and offers a lot of interesting boutiquey shops and independent restaurants. There are two restaurants on -site and several others within walking distance. The staff at the hotel is friendly and efficient. The rooms are large with soaring ceilings. They are tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Since this building was originally a shoe factory, they leave your continental breakfast at your door in a wooden shoe shine box. Very clever and convenient for a quick morning get away. There is a Kuerig machine in the room with tea and coffee. A minifridge is in the lower cabinet. It is stocked only with 2 water bottles. Room service is also available. I would like to see a stocked mini fridge. This is the only suggestion I can make for this otherwise delightful hotel.

Craddock Terry was a very pleasant surprise! I didn't expect to enjoy it so much! Great value! Cozy, friendly, accommodating; take the breezeway to the adjacent part of the hotel and enjoy two wonderful restaurants.
