We were tempted by your prior reviews so I made reservations. We had had a long drive and were pulling our fishing kayak. The hotel and restaurant parking lot was jammed. A staff member who was going home gave us her space and the bell hop found a brick to hold the tire. Top that for a start. It is a remarkable historical hotel which must have been challenging restore. It is situated in the downtown Lynchburg which shows signs of a coming back to life. The last time we were through here the downtown was in sad shape. In fact, if we hadn't seen the reviews and the discount, we may have chosen another city. After getting settled in a very spacious and well appointed room with a large king size bed and huge walk-in shower. We found the shoebox and filled out our request for the continental breakfast and headed for dinner. It is somewhat of a jigsaw puzzle to get from the hotel to the restaurant next door but worth it. We wine and dined, found the way back to our room and fell sound asleep. We heard a train whistle once in a while. Since we love them, it did not disturb us. We are not fans of continental breakfasts but this one excelled. Thank you staff, one and all. We will back in the fall.

Room Tip: Probably rooms that face the river rather than the town.

As a business traveler, this is by far one of the nicest hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. This historic building as an absolute beauty. Staff was extremely friendly, rooms were clean, and the shoebox breakfast was wonderful. It is nice to see that history was preserved in the architecture of the building and all the old shoes.

I had dinner at Shoemakers one evening and Waterstone the next. Both meals were top notch!

Arrived in Lynchburg with no reservations but read about the Craddock Terry on Trip Advisor and decided to try it! So glad we did! The boutique hotel was a former shoe factory and they have done a fabulous job of converting it into a cozy, welcoming hotel. Upon arrival, we were greeted by two friendly faces at the front desk. Walking thru the hotel to our room was like stepping back in time but with luxury planted along the way! Opening the door to our room led us to our next bit of pampering and luxurious accommodations. From the open wood beams, to the king size bed with plump comforters, to the beautiful tile bathroom with LARGE shower - everything was just fabulous. They have taken the time to make the hotel with very clean lines, charming atmosphere and a cozy, welcome to all who enter. Next to the hotel is the Shoemakers restaurant and the shoe theme is all around (which we loved because our last name is Shoemaker!) but the history of the shoe factories in town is not to be missed. Make sure you take the time to read about Lynchburg, the Craddock Terry Shoe Factory, the family and what they have done to maintain a small part of history. We will definitely go back and put our shoe box out at night for our wonderful breakfast which is delivered to your door the next am! Thanks for a wonderful experience and thank you for preserving a bit of history in a wonderful town!

Since we were having some work done on our new home in the Lynchburg, Virginia area, we opted to stay at a hotel rather than live amidst the work being done. We had stayed at the Craddock Terry Hotel on a few previous occasions and had had wonderful experiences. When I read (on their Website) of their extended stay policy and price, it was a no-brainer regarding where we should stay. As with our previous stays, everything was perfect. We feel that if we cannot stay in our home, for whatever reason, staying at the Craddock Terry is a most welcome alternative. Thank you for a lovely experience from room to restaurants. We will definitely be back even though we now live in the area.

Historic hotel with a modern flare, beautiful clean rooms, helpful and friendly staff, and my favorite part was breakfast delivered to your door in the morning in a wooden shoe box! This hotel used to be a shoe factory and the shoe theme is seen throughout the hotel in very classy touches.

Loved location in that we had some great restaurant choices within walking distance. Unfortunately their main restaurant was closed because a Sunday--and their other restaurant was not what we were looking for. Fortunately found a great place less then a block away! Loved feel of Hotel! Room was impressive-- large with super high ceilings. Bed was fantastic--loved the silky sheets! Only "bad" thing was view. Hoped to have a view of river, but had view of old abandoned buildings. Looks like Lynchburg still has some work to do around river area. DId also notice the train going by in night that was mentioned in another review. We didn't mind it so much--does wake you up, but with comfort of bed, fell back to sleep immediately! Also, thought that the free continental breakfast ( delivered to room--nice touch), could have been for 2, rather then just 1 without an up-charge.

My wife and I spent one night here and wished we could have stayed longer. Converting the former shoe factory annex into a charming hotel is a brilliant example of adaptive reuse. We had a deluxe king room, spacious, very nicely furnished and with a luxurious bathroom.
The staff was very welcoming and helpful, including recommending the nearby Robin Alexander bistro for a very enjoyable late lunch. Also on hand to welcome us was the house dog, Buster Brown. Lacking an in-house breakfast room, the clever solution is an over-sized wooden shoe-shine box in which you check off the items you'd like, put the box outside the door and bring it in in the morning. The downside is that nothing hot is offered and you have to brew your own coffee or tea in the room. That worked fine for a one-night stay.
