We stayed five night and have a great rate for a king suite. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was amazingly comfortable. The whirlpool tub worked wonders for relaxing after our long trip. The fitness area was very nice. Just a few things that could have been better: the fireplace made so much noise we could not run it and the first night train passing by woke me up at 4 in the morning. This hotel has so much charm and the bed was so amazingly comfortable that we hardly noticed after that...

The lobby is not as nice as the pictures. Cute gift shop. The room was big, comfortable bed, high celings. We thought we were on the river, but we had a railroad between the hotel and the river. And yes, you hear the trains several times during the night. The breakfast is strictly continental and is brought to your room in the morning.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from back of hotel to get away from noise of train.

I have visited here twice - once with a large business group and once with my family. This is an excellent hotel with GIGANTIC rooms and great amenities. Compared to other hotels in the area, this hotel is an incredible value!!!

Room Tip: I like the 2nd floor rooms. The odd numbered ones (e.g. 207) are slightly bigger than the even numb...

I followed my advice from my '10 review... book early and look for special rates. Both worked to perfection. We checked in mid-afternoon on Wed before T'giving... and were given room 509 in the auxiliary building. It's a corner room with a view of the river front... from both windows.

The room is spacious. The bed... most comfy. But the bathroom was extravagantly big... probably the biggest shower that we've had. Plus there's a full tub.

The b'fast is still delivered via the shoe boxes... and the staff is super friendly and helpful.

And the location hasn't changed either. ;-) Close to all the downtown spots... including the properties restaurant... Shoemakers... and the pizza palace... Waterstone's.

We stayed four nights... and enjoyed each one.

Note: the working train tracks run along the river. So... if you're noise sensitive, then request an inside room in the main building.

Room Tip: Book early and look for specials.

Craddock Terry was as great as I expected it to be. It was an old women's shoe factory in a manufacturing area, in Lynchburg Virginia. Investors oviously put in a lot of money, time and imagination to redesign this hotel and to make this a very unique place to stay. Five star all the way. Decor in all areas, relates to shoes. Our room hand stone walls from the original factory, and modern furnishing for style. The room was beautiful and largge. Staff was terrific. Two restaurants in the hotel, were exceptionally good. It's a winner. Don't miss staying there if you are travelling in Virginia.

Room Tip: Try to get the room by the elevator, which takes you to the restaurants.

This boutique hotel is superb! My delight started with the makeover that transformed this shoe factory into a hotel with my giant room with a giant bathroom graced by giant beams & posts. It's decorated with a shoe theme - and stays on the classy side of a theme (it doesn't get kitschy). By setting a shoe-polish box outside the door overnight I 'ordered' continental breakfast delivered to the door. A nice touch.
The staff, well, I only saw people at the front desk, were efficient and warm.
Only thing not on the site is a decked out exercise room... go up the road for that.
Two of the best restaurants in town, according to my client, are on the property site. I enjoyed the Waterstone brewery.

We stayed here when my husband interviewed in Lynchburg. It's hard not to gush but this is one of our favorite hotels. No need to repeat everything in the other reviews. We traveled with our 4 young kids and the staff was so accommodating with adjoining rooms, crib and everything. I'm trying hard to think of a negative. Nope, can't think of one off the top of my head!
