The restoration of this old shoe factory on the James river was masterfully and lavishly done. Our room was huge with gigantic windows and very tastefully appointed. The neighborhood is a reviving old brick city. The revival seems very real rather than desperate and artificial. No room service but they will leave breakfast goodies for you in a shoebox.

I found a great rate for the Craddock Terry on Orbitz ($129) mid-week. This is such a cool hotel! I am in a king deluxe: it has high ceilings, a HUGE bathroom with shower seat, beautiful linens and furnishings, an exposed brick wall. I used the exercise room which is small but sufficient. I love that parking and breakfast are free - this is unusual for a boutique or higher end hotel. For breakfast you fill out a card and put it in an antique show box outside your door. I haven't sampled it yet but if it's like everything else than I'm sure I will be wowed! I love too that there is a house dog on the premise - Buster Brown.

Lynchburg has come a long way! Old shoe factory converted into a hotel. The rooms are huge, clean, well appointed. Checked in late and there were no options to get something to eat (except go back out to find something open - not the easiest to do in this part of Lynchburg). Desk clerk at night was not overly helpful. Breakfast delivered to your room in a shoeshine box was a nice touch.

Stayed for a night just wanting to get out of NC for a day. Price was amazing as they had a special going on. Beautiful old town feel from ever aspect! The steakhouse on site was simply put....Amazing!!!!!! Will come back again and will be recommending it to all my friends who go up to Lynchburg!

My husband and I are from the Lynchburg area, and wanted to celebrate our anniversary at a classy local hotel. We chose the Craddock Terry for its flair and ties to local history. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room a stylish loft remodel with comfortable amenities. We also chose the Rose Petal Turndown and Champagne options, both of which were enjoyable.

If you are not a sound sleeper, or are not used to some city noise, then the local trains passing through at night could wake you.

The only drawback to this hotel is that they do not offer roomservice, even though the hotel has two restaurants in the building, albeit under different management. It seems that an updated arrangement between these three businesses would benefit their profits and the hotel guests' experience.

Chose to stay here as it was an historic building (former shoe factory) redone into a beautiful modern hotel. (Also, the mascot is a dog that stays at the hotel and we loved that.) The rooms are clean and nicely appointed and the staff is both professional and helpful. The decorations of the hotel have a "shoe" theme that runs throughout and is whimsical and well done. Continental Breakfast is delivered in an old wooden shoe box to the door. It is a nice touch. All of the restaurants associated with the hotel are great and are located on the property. If we have the opportunity to return to Lynchburg, we will stay here, again. If going to Lyncburg, we would highly recommend this Hotel as it is on the James River in the old downtown area.

The shoe theme that's used throughout this former shoe factory is fantastic, from the huge red pump on the building to the shoeshine kits that hold the continental breakfast. The rooms have a great loft feel but with very comfortable, even luxurious, furnishings. The bathroom also looks like a part of a modern NYC loft. The staff were extremely helpful. All in all, a terrific place to stay.
