“Relaxing, Romantic & Refreshing!”
Reviewed June 4, 2009

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here, and while we just stayed one night, it was wonderful! We stayed in the VIP suite, which was enormous and definitely worth the price. The room was clean and cozy and we felt like royalty. It was private, but not empty feeling and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We have lived in Lynchburg for over 5 years, and were wary about staying in town to celebrate, but the lodge was the perfect place to go, because while it felt homey, it still was an excellent getaway and we felt like we were out of town. We also got massages at the spa next door, and we were equally impressed with it. Would totally recommend this for a romantic getaway, girls weekend or simply a vacation!

The suite that we were placed in was clean and a reasonable enough rate at $125 a night. The problem is that service was almost nonexistent. Breakfast was less good than the average Hampton and we were expected to pretty much shift for ourselves, since the owners were occupied with other things. There were no phones in rooms and the cell phone in the lobby--intended as a means of communicating with staff--was not usually there. The fountain was off most of the time. No one around to answer any questions about directions or restaurants.

It's O.K. but I don't understand the raves.

Wanda and Robert couldn't be better innkeepers. The perfect amount of conversation and privacy. The rooms were a perfect place to relax with all the comforts of home. We were visiting my son at Lynchburg College for the holiday weekend. It's less than a mile from the college. It was great to bring him "home" out of the dorm to relax in our suite. My daughter and I enjoyed an afternoon in the sun on our private porch area off of our room reading. My husband and son were relaxing in the suite watching the masters on tv. We were able to stock up on drinks and snacks of our choice with the in-room full size fridge. The breakfast that was served consisted of good food and good company. We will definitely be back again.

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Acorn Hill Lodge is directly in the center of Lynchburg, accessible to shopping, historical sites, medical facilities and everything in the city. Whether you are in town for medical treatments or visits, shopping, taking advantage of historical sites, or simply want a retreat from it all, this is a great stop. The fall foilage was in full beauty, and the grounds were so inviting, from the golden trees to the perfect reading spot by the lake. Coffee or tea on the balcony right outside the door is a treat, as is the mini chair massage at the spa next door. The room had a full size stove, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, table/chairs, king size bed, plasma tv and dvd player. In fact, it had everything including the kitchen sink! This is a great location to invite guests as it is spacious and easy to find. It is a real taste of the Old Dominion, modern yet old fashioned, just like you wish home would be!

  • Liked — Full size kitchen, big tv with dvd player, king bed; extremely homey and quiet; balcony and outside nice for walking
  • Disliked — Could not stay long enough!

My family and I were visiting a medical facitily in Lynchburg . The Acorn Hill Lodge was recommended as a place to stay.
We were not familiar with the bed and breakfast scenario, but it was a perfect place for us. The facility was beautiful and the owners were so helpful and nice. We arrived late and Cathy was there to greet us and to make sure we had everything we needed.
The rooms were incredible, clean, with full kitchens, private baths, you really felt like you were at home. It was one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in.
We are coming back soon and will definitely stay at Acorn HIll!

I was overwhelmed at how nice my room was at the Acorn Hill Lodge. It was a perfect place in that it was comfortable, quiet, relaxing, economical, and had a great balcony to watch the sun set. The owners, Robert and Wanda, were very friendly and welcoming. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

My daughter will be attending a nearby college in the fall, and I spent a night here while she was at freshman orientation. I had booked a standard room but was upgraded to a perfectly lovely suite. My room was airy, spacious, clean and had a full kitchen. The wrap-around porch was great, and the setting is quiet and relaxing. Robert was wonderfully friendly and accommodating (and cooks a great omelet). I have already booked 2 other dates in the fall. It was a charming experience.

  • Liked — room and porch
  • Disliked — no down side !
