“Nice historical preservation”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

I have visited many 19th century homes over the years and was especially impressed with the meticulous restoration of this house which restored it to it's early 1800's appearance. The tour guide did and excellent job with explaining fine points of the restoration process as well as behind the scenes information which helped to enrich the history experience. This property is located in a part of town that appears ran down and we were mildly concerned about walking the streets to look at other period homes.

“Very interesting and knowledgable guides”
Reviewed August 7, 2012 via mobile

Most enjoyable and ladies were very friendly and helpful. The house is beautifully restored and the stories are well told by the guides. Kids enjoyed it, if a bit too much for them.

Loved that it was right here in town and that the characters were in costume.

This home in Lynchburg is lovely to see. I have visited it several times in the past 30 years. Some special events are held there also. Great

“A most interesting design and layout”
Reviewed June 15, 2012

Perched on a hill overlooking the James River, the broad front of the house included two bay-like fronts to the side rooms. As a result, the porch was very deep and inviting. The entrance hall itself was very interesting with a whale oil lamp hanging from chains to light both the room and the front porch. The second level is where we found a very creative room layout, furnished with wonderful period pieces and hiding a few closets and stairs.
