This hotel used to be very nice, some years ago - but those days are gone. It looks shopworn, the front desk staff looks tired, the restaurant no longer serves lunch - the hotel has geared itself to "corporate accounts", which is pretty silly, because Lynchburg doesn't have enough industry to make that need very pressing. I've stayed there over a number of years - and it's hit a new low, in my opinion. Not sure if the local downtown area just isn't supportive or conducive to hotel use and growth, or if there's just not enough competition to spur the hotel to improve or return to the days of yore - but they sure have competition, now: the Craddock Terry Hotel. And it's on the nicer and more interesting end of Main Street - near the Community Market (which has its Heritage Crafters booths, and great fresh vegetables). The price difference between the two hotels is very small - $20-$30 - but the experience is HUGE. Don't waste your time on the Holiday Inn - head to the Craddock Terry Hotel and be glad you did.

We stayed at this hotel to visit someone in college. We booked this hotel primarily because all of the close hotels were booked because of parents’ weekend at the college. The location of the hotel wasn’t the best because it was in a busy area or down town with not a lot of restaurants. It was 8 miles away from the college as well. The staff wasn’t very friendly. The room was spacious. The beds were okay. The hotel is like a normal holiday inn with bigger rooms and nicer bedding. One night the maintenance guy interrupted me during my shower because he said the water was pouring into the room below (inconvenient). This shows the hotel isn’t in the best of shape. The room wasn’t the cleanest room either the shower curtain had a lot of mold on it. Overall it was just okay and suited our needs.

Stayed there for daughters graduation. Hallway smelled musty, room smelled and a/c did not work. Sheets were coarse. Apparently, no ones a/c worked, room was so hot the first night that we left and checked into the Craddock Terry Hotel, which was wonderful.

Nice hotel, standard Holiday Inn. Restuarant food was not very good - Fish was over cooked, dry - but we ( as a group) were the only customers on a Sunday evening. Perhaps they were not expecting people to dine. Front desk very accomodating. Perfectly adequate hotel.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were large and clean and the maid service was exceptional.
