“Good food at a good price”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

Had lunch there after a quick trip to the area. Had the burger, oyster plate, and white bean chili. All were very good, burger was a good size and tasty, chili bowl was good, flavorful but meat was a little scarce, and oysters were great, as good as here on the coast.

“Simple food at a reasonable price”

Good, friendly service. I ordered a cheeseburger & wafflefries- oil tasted a bit old. I did notice a lot of folks ordering hamburger steak w/ mashed potatoes & gravy--looked good!!!

“ribs like shoe leather”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

Only place to stop going north on Route 29 when wanted to stop for dinner. Part of a shopping center. Not very busy, and looks pretty much recently remodeled. Spouse had the scallops (runny sauce) and I had the ribs. I like spicy food but it has to have some juice left in it. Dry dry dry. Cole slaw was ok, as was the potato salad. Going north 1/2 hour puts you into the better and equal in price to this cafe. Hold out for that. If you do stop be aware they charge extra for salad dressing!, (but not the ribs sauce).

“Great Place for food”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

We attended a wedding rehearsal dinner at Lovingston Cafe. It was nearby the Pharsalia Plantation, (the wedding site) in a farm community. We ate at the LC in their patio area as the inside of this restaurant is small, we had about 20 guests. Great food and large portions. I was told that most entrees are homemade. We had Fried Chicken and I was shocked at how much food was on the plate. I am a pickey Chicken eater and this was close to "Moms" cooking. The restaurant is very laid back as it is in a very small town off State Hwy 29 between Charlottesville and Lynchberg, VA. in Nelson County. Do not expect the "Ritz" yet great food, clean, and friendly people.

“A good restaurant for what it is”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

This is not fine dining, folks. This is a Mom and Pop restaurant in the mountains. So that is what my rating is based on -- not a fine dining establishment, because obviously it would rate poorly compared to that -- but not a hot dog stand on the side of the road either, because obviously it would rate excellent compared to that. As a Mom and Pop restaurant in the mountains, it was a little better than some I've been to, thus my rating. The decor was nice, the place was clean, the service was good, the food was average (a little better with the addition of some salt) and they served beer, wine & mixed drinks. If you don't care about food, save a few bucks and eat at the McDonald's close by. If you are a foodie or a snob, head on out to Lynchburg, honey, this isn't the place for you.
