The hosts, Richard and Deb, are such great people! They are very personable but leave you space to do your own activities. Richard drove us around on a wine tour to three wineries, taking care of everything beforehand. All we needed to do was show up and have a good time! The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent!

When my sister suggested a girls weekend in Walton's Mountain I wasn't sure what to expect. I went on the museum website to look for a place to stay. The Orchard House B & B appeared to be the perfect spot, and I'm happy to say it was! We could not have been more pleased with our choice. Beautifully appointed rooms, fabulous food and a relaxing atmosphere all helped to make our visit enjoyable. Visiting the Waltons Mountain Museum was more fun that either of us had imagined it might be. If you grew up watching this show or watch the reruns on cable, I recommend a visit. It was a nice reminder of how simple things used to be and how important it is to hold onto what really matters most in life, the love of family and friends. There is plenty to do near the Orchard House but the thing we enjoyed most was spending time relaxing at the Inn and of course watching DVD's of the Walton's. Thanks for a great visit Deb and Richard, we look forward to returning soon!!

Let's start by managing expectations: Lovingston is not Charlottesville. So, if you're looking for nightlife or culture or lots of people watching, you are not going to find it here. But what you will find at Richard and Deborah's Orchard House is a first rate country inn with all the trimmings--hammocks and bunnies in the garden, wicker furniture on the porch, delicious breakfasts, every room amenity possible and 2 very discreet, very professional innkeepers. I stayed for more than a week...reading, napping, walking, thinking...and never did I feel like anything other than a trusted and greatly appreciated guest. Hanging out with the inn's extraordinary tabby cat made a blissful vacation feel just like home. Thanks you two!!

My girlfriend and I meet half way (GA and NY) at the Orchard House for our girls week vacation. We did the Scrap for Two Special. Deb and Richard were amazing. They helped us to carry all of our scrapbooking stuff up the stairs into our private scrapbook room and even made sure they seperated our luggage and put the proper bags into our bedroom. We stayed in Winesap which was very comfortable and relaxing. We did sneak looks at all of the rooms and there isn't one that we wouldn't have enjoyed staying in.

Our craft room was totally awesome and we had plenty of room to work and to sit and chat. Deb would come up to visit, bring cookies and see if we would like her to go out and grab some lunch for us. She'd also spend time checking out what we did and we shared adventures and ideas.

The breakfasts were excellent each morning along with a cheery good morning from both Richard and Deb and the other guests. They both knew what we preferred to drink and would also ask "Mixed again today?". Chatting with the other guests was fun and a great way to start our morning before retreating to our scrapbook room. The other guests would also pop into our scrapbook room to see what we were doing.

Each morning Richard and Deb would ask who needed suggestions of what to do or where to eat. Deb would even go and print directions for us if she wasn't totally sure of how to get there.

All of the recommendations were perfect. Upon Richard's recommendation we hit the Lovingston Winery - very low key and fun. The Lovingston Cafe and Vitos were fabulous. We took the leftovers home and put them in our refrigerator and warmed them up for lunch. Richard even recommended a great local garage when we realized that I had a very flat tire! He offered to drive us over or pick us up if need be.

We didn't hit the pool but did use the hottub a few times in the evenings. There was a refrigerator and coffee for our use in the common area upstairs. They provided soda, but the way that we drink it, we brought our own so as not to take advantage of their offereings.

The rooms were cleaned and straightened every day and cookies magically appeared!

It was a truly unique experience and we will be back! I already miss saying hello to Lacie the dog and Callie the cat when we ventured out!

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent!

Mom, Dad, Brother, and Grandma met our son, who works at the Pentagon for a relaxing Fourth of July weekend. The Farm House gave us the space and privacy to just hangout, play dominoes at the kitchen table, cook some favorite meals, and just relax and catch up. The boys enjoyed the front yard for a frisbee match and the grownups enjoyed the front porch with a relaxing beverage. Close enough to Monticello and Washington DC for some serious sightseeing. The views along the Blue Ridge Parkway were beautiful.

This B&B is situated on a gorgeous piece of land -- if you drive up in the evening there's a little light in each window, fireflys in the field, frogs singing in the pond, and some comfy seats on the front porch to take it all in. The rooms are spacious, well-decorated (all with gorgeous quilts), and very clean. They provide everything you could possibly need. There's a pool and a hot tub, you can rent a kayak, Richard will take you on a wine tour, and their breakfasts are amazing. They're also very well priced. We are a lesbian couple, and are sometimes cautious of B&Bs in VA, but Richard and Deb were nothing but friendly, helpful, and professional. Can't say enough good things about this place.

Room Tip: all rooms are nice
