Definitely worth the trip to try this farm to table restaurant. Easy to get too and enjoyed the whole experience. Although we were sat out on the patio under the tent and it was over 95 degrees it was not uncomfortable. Maybe because the fan was blowing right behind me.

We were greeted and given a personalized menu (a line at the top wishing us a Happy Anniversary) - a nice touch to start our adventure. Since this was our first visit we decided to take on the Chef's surprise brunch. It didn't tell you how many courses were included (surprise) but it included three alcoholic beverages each. This is great when you both drink but my husband is a tea totaler (only iced tea) and the one disappointing part of our meal is that they still charged him extra for the iced tea! I made the most of my drinks.

The food itself was wonderful. I noticed that it was smaller portions of whatever was on the menu that day - but you did not know what you were going to get. After about six courses and two and a half hours later we were so stuffed that it was difficult to move.

It was a wonderful experience and although it was expensive it was worth trying. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and family.

This is a delightfully understated high-end culinary "experience" if you value extremely creative, locally sourced organic food served by professionals who understand fine dining. It's located in the VA country side, at the MD border, on a hill overlooking the Potomac (just off Highway 15). It's a short, uphill, dirt/clay road getting up to the restaurant.

You dine in a glass conservatory/greenhouse with original and festive art on the wall. You'll see raised beds of herbs and vegetables growing along the side. A gazebo outside and a covered terrace are also used for dining at times. There are acres of organic farm farther back that I hope to see some day.

The service competes with any high end restaurant in which I've dined. The unique and thoughtful combinations of food are amazing! That doesn't necessarily mean you'll love every single thing, but you'll be enthralled and adore most of it. And, you'll have your senses and your emotions happily excited.

We had the Destination Menu - fixed price at $100pp. There were 8 small dishes including the sorbet and amuse bouche. We were pleasantly sated by the experience in every realm. There is a full bar and a pastry chef that will roll out his gastronomic exclamation point to an already fabulous meal. But, honestly, at the heart, it's REAL food, creatively prepared. If you like this sort of thing, don't hesitate to try it.
(As for my rating below, they have a full bar regarding wine and spirits, but it's not a "bar scene" kind of place. It's for drinking while dining. And, I don't know how often they use the outdoor pavilion area for seating.)

Don't go on the one other review. This restaurant is a gem. The food is amazing sourced from locally grown produce and prepared by a tremendously talented chef. The service is befitting of a fine dining restaurant but with a sociable flare subtitle to the country setting. And the venue is tranquil with a view of point of rocks.

We are so thrilled to have happened upon this delightful farm-to-table restaurant. The food was exquisite and the atmosphere was lovely. We will surely spread word amongst our family and friends of Chef Edwards' culinary talent and Beverly's abundant hospitality.

We are already looking forward to returning (soon) as The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm certainly "nourished our souls and excited our palates", as promised.

So maybe if you want the farm experience you can pay for that, but other wise this place is over priced for the food, the service and the ambiance. It costs as much or more than high end places in down town DC, but doesn't measure up. I think if they cut their prices in half it would be appropriate.
When I went there I went with a professional chef and she said the same thing, it was just over priced for what was offered.
