“Small waterpark but not bad for young kids”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

It's one of the cheapest water parks in the area ($8 over 42", $6.75 under) but also one of the smallest. It has a water playset, a kiddie pool, a water slide for over 42" and a sand pit. Younger kids enjoy it probably more than teens. Definitely better to visit during the week. When we went last weekend, the women's lock room shower was not draining well, half of the shower heads didn't work and there is no hot water. Maybe there has never been hot water, I'm not sure, but don't remember that from previous visits. The pools were clean but the locker room was not. It's also at the end of the day too so maybe that's why. Lockers are $0.75 each. The water park is located within larger parks, but we didn't explore much of the Mason Neck Park. Google Maps sent us through Fort Belvoir down Telegraph Road, but you can't cut through Fort Belvoir obviously. Instead you have to get on Rt. 1 then turn on Gunston Rd.

“Lots of Fun for Kids and Families”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

I've been bringing my six-year-old son to Pirate's Cove Water Park since he was three. The pool area is large and deep enough (3 to 4.5 feet max) for adults to cool off while the kids play safely. A dumping bucket, squirting "guns," and other features keep it fun for the kids. The new slides are also a hit. The park also features a large sandbox area where the kiddos can dig for buried tokens that can be exchanged for prizes. The kiddie pool is also ample and has a fun slide.

After swimming, my son enjoys romping around the playground (outside the pool area) and exploring the river shore (where they rent paddle boats).

Although we live closer to Great Waves (Cameron Run), we prefer Pirate's Cove because of its fun and friendly family atmosphere. Also, at $6.75-$8.75, it's cheaper than CR.

“Great place for children!!”
Reviewed June 12, 2012

We love to bring our 9 yr old granddaughter here for a day of swimming. The park has good lockers and food is available, although it is strictly hot dog variety. The pool is huge and has tons of different water activities which children absolutely love!!
