“Home Away from Home”

We stayed at this B&B shortly after the new owners Jan-Willem and Nancy opened. We were on a trip to deliver a child to college. The rooms were of large with room to move about and windows with views of the countryside. The very comfortable bed was tastefully covered with a hand made quilt, giving a warm welcoming atmosphere for weary travelers such as us. The bathroom in the room was clean and featured a large shower/jacuzzi tub to soak away travel weariness. We enjoyed strolling around the property, viewing the pond and meadow areas. Even better, the mild summer evening spent with owners Nancy & Jan on their patio, talking and watching the night sky was soothing and peaceful. They also have a comfortable sitting area with a fireplace that is just as enjoyable for relaxing in conversation with others or to read. We requested a light breakfast due to our travels and were delighted with fresh fruit, yogurt and bagels, just right for our needs. I look forward to a more relaxed morning on our next stay so that we can enjoy their wonderful breakfast selection. A wonderful place to stay, its unbelievable that its located only 3 miles outside of Lexington. We will plan return when we travel to visit our daughter in college.
(Writing this review a bit delayed, but as we are planning another trip, wanted to give credit to a terrific B&B. Will post again after our next trip.)

This B&B is being revived by the recent owners that have done an amazing job in less than a year. It lies only minutes away from downtown Lex-Vegas yet benefits from the peace and quiet only a pond and rolling stream can offer. The property is on a beautiful hill/mountain and the home(s) are decorated with Jan-Willen's amazing art work. We were welcomed with a tour and a beer and Nancy was able to get a reservation for dinner in town in spite of every W&L student going out for dinner for W&L's fraternity formal dress night. Breakfast was delicious (Mexican egg cups) and filling and the coffee was spot on. We even had the outdoor fireplace stocked with kindling and firewood for us.

Looking forward to going back!

We recently spent four nights at the Shenandoah Manor Bed & Breakfast while visiting our daughter at Washington and Lee University. The property is very convenient to the town of Lexington and is a lovely hillside setting with a pond and woods. The house is very appealing. Our room was beautifully furnished and comfortable with a small private porch. Nancy and Jan-Willem are great hosts who really make you feel comfortable and welcomed. They both go out of their way to help with restaurant recommendations and directions to local attractions. The house is light and bright and the art studios display many great pieces that lend to the atmosphere. You have the feeling while you are at the house that it is more than a B&B and truly a homey retreat where you can sit and read or watch tv in the first floor living room and den. Nancy's breakfasts are outstanding and we looked forward to them each morning. We will definitely stay here again on future trips.

We have enjoyed the hospitality of Nancy and Jan-Willen on several visits to see our son at VMI. They go out of their way to accommodate crazy schedules; make everyone feel welcomed and serve a delicious breakfast! We've stayed at B&B's for 20+ years and this is one of our favorites!

We learned of Shenandoah through a sold-out hotel...we were in Lexington for a Parents Weekend at Washington and Lee University. How fortuitous for us!! The Bed and Breakfast was a great experience...much better than staying at a boring hotel or motel! The rooms are beautiful and visually appealing. Nancy and Jan, the hosts, are very warm and welcoming, and they will have a conversation for as long as you feel like talking. They are knowledgeable about the area, too. Nancy does a great job of preparing a very filling breakfast; something new every morning. We would definitely return there if we return to Lexington and would definitely recommend it to anyone travelling to the Lexington area!

Room Tip: Any of the rooms are a good choice.

Although we were the first guests to stay at the newly opened Shenandoah Manor B&B, one would think it had been open a long time. The inn is exceptionally warm and inviting with the host's incredible art work displayed throughout. Our room was clean, comfortable, spacious, quiet, and even had a fireplace and porch which was perfect. Breakfast was delicious and beyond expectations. Nancy and Jan-Willem are truly gracious hosts who made us feel at home immediately. We will definitely choose Shenandoah Manor B&B whenever we spend the night in Lexington, VA.

We stayed several nights at Shenandoah Manor...a lovely setting which we enjoyed from our private porch. Tasty breakfasts and charming rooms...and it was fun to chat with owners. Interesting art too...I bought a painting.
