A standard room, comfortable and clean, with a nice view of the mountains from the 3rd floor. But beware--this hotel claims to have a fitness center and pool, but neither are on the property--you have to go to two different nearby motels (one for the fitness center, one for the pool). The free breakfast was low quality even by motel standards. The "healthy" fruit option (which they promote) was some overripe bananas and kids "Trix" yogurts. Bad coffee in styrofoam cups. Your kids might like all the sugar, but adults will leave hungry and looking for decent coffee. For $129 + tax I felt ripped off.

We go to the Virginia Horse Center to show horses several times a year and our Cairn Terrier, Baxter, is a member of the Family (and better behaved than many children ;-) ) The Holiday Inn Express could not have been more accomodating for him (even not giving us a hard time for bringing him to the eating area which I later realized was a no-no, whoops!) Beds were comfortable with nice linens- decor a little outdated but not horrible. A new fave in Lexington (old fave was the Hampton Inn, but they are NOT pet friendly.) We couldn't get the internet to work, unfortunately...

This hotel is very clean although the decor (lots of flowery wallpaper) and amenities are a little dated. No flat screen TVs here! We stayed at this hotel after an uncomfortable night at the Wingate nearby, and this is a much better choice. The room, a king suite, was quite small and the sofa bed was a twin -- not big enough for our 9 and 11 year old children. The room and bathroom were very clean and smelled fresh. The bed was fairly firm but we slept well. Breakfast was average, but did include a pancake maker and the rolls this chain is known for. All the staff were very helpful and attentive. For the limited options in Lexington, this hotel is a good choice.

Recently stayed at this hotel while visiting the local historical sites, including Stonewall Jackson's home, Lee's Chapel and Jackson Cemetery. The hotel is located less than 5 minutes from downtown Lexington. Parking lot was well kept and clean. The lobby and desk help were both welcoming. We stayed in a large suite room with two doubles in one room and in the other section were a kitchen, TV area and pull out sofa. Everything was clean, new looking and no funny smells. The wall mounted hair dryer died while my wife was using it, but once we told the desk they quickly gave us a new hand held dryer as a replacement. The breakfast was included and the staff was friendly. Very comfortable stay.

+ Superb location, an Applebee, a subway and a dairy queen are all within walking distance, along with an Amoco gas station with its attached convenience store
+ I had a nice view from my room of sun rays caressing mountain tops and trees
+ Room was exceptionally clean with a nice smell
+ Comfortable bedding
+ Quiet
+ Sumptuous free breakfast

-1 Breakfast could be improved with more healthy stuff, like sugar free oatmeal, fruits etc.

Arrived on a Thursday afternoon 5pm; waited 20 minutes for employee to check us in. No one at front desk with 3 couples waiting for rooms. AC was very loud machine; hard to sleep, bathroom floor was not clean. For a pretty town like Lexington, Holiday Inn Express disappointed.

This was my second time at this property. It is typical of the Holiday Inn Express offerings--clean, basic, no-frills accommodations.

I noticed a couple of very small stains (mildew?) on the shower curtain, but otherwise the bathroom was spotless, as was the room in general.
