“Lexington Ghost Tour a spooktacular visit”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

With Fall and Halloween approaching it is a good time to take our states local ghost tours.
Although most run throughout the year it is much more exciting to do them in the fall and during October. The leaves are in full color, the temps are great from cool to cold and you can feel the spirit of Halloween as you drive through all our quaint little towns. We have done the Lexington Ghost tour 2 times. Once before we moved to Va. about 13 yrs ago and last yr. The first time was truly the best, probably because we are from Fla. and do not experience the cool weather or the small towns that are historic. But last yr. we decided to go again and were not disappointed. It was different than the first time and the guide was dressed in garb from the 1800's. Walking through the town carrying a lantern which just added to the tour and authenticity of the age of the town. Most of the buildings in the city are original to when Lexington was founded.1777 and its quaint charm and hilly streets just add to the excitement of the tour. As you walk along the leaflined streets you will visit many houses and buildings known for its hauntings. The tour ends in the cemetery where Stonewall Jackson is laid to rest. The town is rich with history and with numerous hauntings. Reservations are made by calling 540-464-2250. Prices range from 13yr. and older 13.00 per person, 4-11 6.00 and 3 and under no charge. The tours run from May to October. The tour is 1.5 hrs and begins outside the Lexington Visitors Center. They have several eateries where you can eat, places for hot cocoa at the gas station within walking distance from the visitors center. Most of the homes are decorated for halloween and the cool fall temps and colorful leaves just makes the experience all the more enjoyable. The towns ties to the Civil War add to the adventure. It is easy to find off of Rt 81 . Google it for the best route for you.
Some lovely hotels are there for visitors from out of state.
