“Quite a history lesson.”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

NOT just Thomas J. Jackson's grave draws visitors to the cemetery. There is quite a bit of history to be learned from the information available about the other gravesites at the central information points. It is a good point to start the walking tour,
exploring the accomplishments of many people of stature in
19th century America, who made their homes in Lexington and Rockbridge County.

“SJ's cemetery”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

Fascinating to read the tombstomes and learn that so many people critical to the Civil War (including those who surrendered) are buried there. Lots of history in this cemetery for this little town, and I don't think many folks realize this. The cemetery, however, needs some major upkeep and helpful plaques and signs identifying the importance of some plots would help alot.

“Interesting Southern Cemetary”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

This is good for a stroll or a drive-through. The Stonewall Jackson statue/gravesite is in the middle; there is a paved road so we could drive right up to the monument. Beautiful old trees are in the cemetary, worth admiring.
