“Must see in Lexington, VA!”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Great place to get a feel of the history of the area. It is a beautiful little chapel on a beautiful campus. Close to VMI and the George C. Marshall museum. All part of a wonderful easy walking tour of this historic Civil War town.

“A Side Trip to Remember”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

If you are traveling I-81, take an hour or more and get off at the Lexington,VA exit and visit Lee Chapel on the campus of Washington & Lee. Lexington itself is a very charming town that has maintained its mid-19th century character. The Washington & Lee and VMI campuses are beautiful. Visit Lee Chapel and you will be moved by the spirit of RE Lee. History runs deep and lives here. The staff at Lee Chapel are knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming. Easy parking and great walking on the sidewalks of the campus.

“Friendly Staff and Wonderful History”
Reviewed April 11, 2014

The staff was very friendly and informative. The museum and the chapel were beautiful and it was great to see where two great men- George Washington and Robert E. Lee- chose to make their mark. A small but good gift shop. And don't miss the portrait of a young Robert Lee. To die for.

Very appropriate...Beautiful chapel and museum. Nice gift shop.

“Very Worthwhile”
Reviewed April 1, 2014

As a Civil War buff I expected to enjoy my visit to this site but it was much more than I even imagined it would be. Besides the surprisingly extensive museum and wonderfully preserved office of Robert E Lee below the Chapel - as well as the Chapel itself, the opportunity to be on the beautiful Washington and Lee University Campus and then to be able to take a very short walk down the street to visit it's next door neighbor, the awe-inspiring Virginia Military Institute, was all just amazing. And General Lee's horse, Traveler, is buried there, too, in a very unassuming grave just outside the General's office!
