“Great location to visit LEXINGTON, vA”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

Best property to stay at in Lexington. Most of the rooms are large and well appointed. Breakfast, which is included, is very good and well serviced by staff. Two types of rooms - newer hotel rooms which are more consistent- and the manor house rooms which are inconsistent. We have stayed in all of their room types in three stays at the hotel. In the manor house rooms you could be very pleased with a grand room room complete with fireplace or, for the same price, a room which you can't move around in with not enough chairs to sit and was obviously servant quarters before the civil war. The room attendants never changed our water glasses over a five day stay and the breakfast staff noise at 5am was irritating (to name two of several examples) so I am not convinced this property is delivering the service necessary to justify the rates they are charging for the manor house rooms.

Room Tip: If staying in the manor house demand a room with a fireplace - they are the larger ones. The newer h...

This Hampton was very interesting, as it was in a Historical building. It looks like a plantation from the 1800s out front, but was newly renovated inside. The furnishings, wood floors, and large rugs were charming. The rooms were standard King size rooms, with everything you expect from a Hampton.
We stopped without a reservation, and the staff worked hard to accomodate me and my husband on crutches, even taking me to the room first, to make sure the access was good for my hubby. Overall, it was a brief, but enjoyable stay!

Room Tip: We stayed on the first floor in a room by The Cabin out back. We really liked the one-way drive. I...

We needed a place for one night to break up a long roadtrip after a cancelled flight. Picked the Hampton based on TA reviews and were glad we did. It was more cost-wise than the other presented options but we had a large room with a very nice king bed and a double sleeper sofa for the kid. Just what we needed after 10 hours in the car. Check in and out was fast and very friendly- the staff here knows how to treat their customers well. Complimentary breakfast was fantastic with many options and it was a pleasure eating in the beautiful manor house that makes up the lobby and main areas. Good coffee too. Lexington is a great little place and I would say this has got to be the best in town- location wise as well.

This is a very unique hotel. The reception area and several special rooms are part of an old mansion, the modern hotel is tucked behind. It is quite close to downtown - walking distance to most things, yet secluded and peaceful. Staff was helpful and friendly. The only downside I noted was that the outdoor hot tub was covered for the season.

At first I thought I had made an error as I drove up to this fabulous old mansion with verdant and abundant grounds. The main part of the house is of exceptional B & B quality. Our room was around the back in the Conference Center portion of the hotel. Even though it was an outside entrance, ground floor room, it was lovely, clean and spacious. You can't go wrong, in any respect, staying here; from the public areas, grounds, and location...it is all good.

The property is beautiful and decorated wonderfully. The Manor portion of the hotel was under construction, however the staff did a good job of maneuvering around it. My husband and I were here for a romantic weekend and pleasantly surprised. We actually strayed in the manor and loved all the extra touches especially the breakfast in bed part.......Wow. The only drawback is that the manor is old and seems there is not much of a sound barrier between you and anyone in the hallway thus you can hear them..........they can hear you, so don't recommend staying in this part of the hotel if you are a light sleeper, however we were not bothered by anyone but instead we seemed to bother other guests, (sorry). Lexington is a very quaint city and has lovely downtown area for window shopping.

Room Tip: Stay in the Manor and receive extra's.

The Hampton in Lexington is like no other I have seen. An historic large home on a commanding site in town is the main portion of the Inn. Several rooms in the house are operated as a B& B option. The remainder of the Inn of complementary old brick design. The customary included breakfast is well handled with the dining area in the high ceiling former living room of the mansion. Dignitaries visiting Lexington often stay here. During our recent visit the presidential candidate and his staff were their. It is clean and quiet for its setting on the hill surrounded by several acres of lawn. Insulate it from street noise. The downtown, Washington and Lee University and VMI are close by.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms in the back may be quieter
