“I like staying in Hamption Inn's this one was unlike any I have ever visited!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2011

The hotel is in the fully restored 1827 Coronal Alto Mansion. There are 10 rooms available in the manor home. Breakfast is also served in the home.

The rest of the rooms are next to the mansion. They are what you expect from a Hampton Inn. They are large, spotless and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable.

The location of the Inn was important to me. I like to be able to walk around after traveling all day. This place is withing easy walking distance of downtown, Washington and Lee College and Stonewall Jackson's grave.

Around back there is a historic log cabin. Make sure you check it out.

I will definitely stay here again if in the area.

Traveled to Lexington to visit VMI. The Hampton Inn was very nice, clean, comfortable hotel to stay at. Check in was fast and easy. Checked in late around 10:30 PM. Lady working was very nice and gave us a upgraded room with a hallway. Some of the rooms at this Inn exit out to the outside, no hall way. As always the free hot breakfast was a good variety of food to choose from.

We travel to Lexington often because of our association with Washington and Lee University. We always try to stay at the Hampton Inn because of its location. You can park your car and never have to get in it again until you leave Lexington

The free breakfast bar is wonderful, good variety of foods to choose from. They have a beautiful outdoor seating area as well a large indoor area. The outdoor pool is always clean and rarely used. The only negative is the fitness room is small and the equipment out dated.

Lately the rates have been higher than normal expecially during a major weekend(homecoming, parent's weekend ett.) for either W&L or VMI. Maybe the secret is out and the hotel has become to popular.

Beautiful and clean room. However, the amount of bugs were unbelievable for this type of hotel and the amount of money paid. Very afraid to take my luggage back home in fear of the bugs being in my luggage. Will never stay in this hotel again.

Dear MrWebster:
Thank you for your review of your stay with us at the Hampton Inn in Lexington VA. Please accept my apology for the extra guests in your room. It is about this time of year that the little visitors make their way into every little crack they can get in. Fortunately, we have a very good extermination program in place that is about 99% effective. This hotel probably has fewer bugs than most homes, but they do get in from time to time. The exterminator barriers in place make their life expectancy very short and therefore, most of the bugs guests find are dead. Any reports of insects we take very seriously and are descended upon with inspections and swift action. Again, thank you for staying with us and for your review.

We took a trip to see Natural Bridge. We thought that the Natural Bridge Hotel looked ok on the Internet and it is right across the street from Natural Bridge. What a mistake. I would rather sleep in my car than stay there. Needless to say it was so bad that we left and did an Internet search for the nearest Hampton Inn.
Col Alto Hampton Inn is the best!!!!!It is only 10 minutes from Natural Bridge!

Having lived in Lexington we knew the area well and wanted somewhere comfortable to stay for one night on the way to West Virginia. Sadly we were on our way to a funeral and were sad, numb and in need of somewhere comfortable. This is not your typical Hampton Inn. It is beautiful, the grounds are beautiful and the room was very spacious. We had a king room, the bathrooms are large and the loveseat and coffee table were a nice addition to the room. Our room overlooked the parking lot/lawn. The breakfast was warm and everything was replenished well. Lexington is not like other cities in the south, people there tend to be closed and somewhat aloof on the whole (that's one of the reasons we moved away) and the staff at the Hampton Inn is no exception. But, they are prompt and take pride in their work and that was evident at this property. If you have the choice to stay at this property or one of the ones off 64 and the price is right, stay here.
