“Little Hidden Gem”

Love this little place. We frequently walk up to the Sanctuary and stroll around. Great place to view the local wildlife. We seen deer, turkey, fox, birds galore (including kingfisher and pileated woodpecker), hawks, owls, lots of dragon flies, frogs and turtles. In the old formal garden behind the house is my favorite tree. At the very back of the garden near the wall is the most amazing tree. You must stand under it to fully appreciate its majesty. Many of the branches are as large as tree trunks.

“Review from a birder”

I went to the sanctuary specifically to do some birding. When I arrived, a handful of deer were across from the Visitor's Center. I saw the usual suspects for this time of year: robin, wren, cardinals, sparrows, woodpeckers. There were also a few pair of eastern blue birds present. This place does not have a lot of trails nor does it have a wide variety of habitat, but it is a nice spot to find some quiet, solitude and enjoy the outdoors. I walked the road trail to the pond, walked out into the meadow across from the parking area and walked about 1/2 of a trail through the woods. Delightful...
