Thanks to the Westmoreland Davis preservation Society we can see a piece of the past. The mansion and grounds are beautifully preserved. They and caring docents take visitors back to an era, early 1900's when Westmoreland and Marguerite Davis lived on the estate, and influenced animal farming in the South. The Society did a wonderful job preserving the mansion, furniture, and furnishings so visitors can appreciate how the Davises lived. Small fee. Must visit if near Leesburg. Combine with Winmill Carriage a Museum, and stay for a picnic or dine in nearby Leesburg.

For an NYC local, this is about as close as you can come to Central Park in Leesburg. Morven Park is pretty in a simple calming way. It's a great place to go to relax. Oddly enough when I am in Leesburg I spend a large portion of my time strolling here with friends. It is a great place to be inspired.

The park is beautiful. There are several acres of nice open fields, trees, and a nice little garden area that was created by the governor's wife when they lived there. Great place for a picnic. I hear they do weddings there, I think that would be beautiful.
