Description: The award winning Palio Ristorante Italiano is a combination of three of the premier historic buildings in downtown Leesburg, Virginia. Palio provides Leesburg's newest venue for dining, entertaining, and banquet facilities. Palio has designed and built an establishment like no other in the Washington area, utilizing unique combinations of cherry wood, onyx, and antique mirrors and chandeliers. The design has been meticulously configured into the existing space in these historic buildings. The theme of the Palio derives from the ancient horse race -beautiful and bold, risky and exciting, a feast for the eyes as well as the senses. Good music, a fine wine selection, house made pasta and bread prepared on site, and sourcing from local producers, can only be described as a beautiful experience- all presented in an historic setting that would be as comfortable in Italy as it is in Loudoun County.

“Great food and wine for Leesburg VA”
Reviewed August 29, 2012

We started at Lightfoot but we eat there all the time and thus couldn't get excited by the food or wine. We walked to Palio (just around the corner) and had a great dinner. Alot of great appetizer, pasta and entree choices. They do half portions on most of the pasta dishes. Watch out for the pork wrapped in speck special -- it was excellent but I was surprised by the $42 price (about twice that of all the regular entrees on the menu). I think it's worth it, just be aware of the price going in. The wine list focuses on Italy (of course), and includes a number of interesting and reasonably priced choices from the major wine regions in Italy.

“Very authentic Italian”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

I have reviewed Palio once before, about a year ago. Since that time the executive chef has changed, and it was definately a change for the better. While the food was good before, it is now excellent, with a very authentic Italian menu and upscale ambiance. Palio, which was on our 'every now and then' list, is now our favorite fine-dining restaurant in the area.

“Great Wine and Good Food”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

This is an upscale Italian restaurant in downtown. They have a very good wine list! The waiter was attentive and the food was good. I was surprised that there weren't more pasta dishes, especially with a vegetarian in our group, but we all enjoyed our dinners. We will definitely go back, but probably for a special occasion rather than just one of those nights where you're too tired to cook after work.
