Review of Fabbioli Cellars

Rustic setting with multiple tasting areas. Unlike the crowded room sized bar in some tasting rooms, Fabbioli Cellars has 'individual' seating for small groups (4-6 people), as well as a larger group station.

One unique feature of this tasting is that they include food pairings (chocolates or savories) in the $10 tasting fee.

The staff members were all very knowledgeable and helpful.

After our tasting, we enjoyed a bottle in a pair of Adirondack chairs out under a shade tree.

We had an impromptu visit to Fabbioli Cellars last Saturday (July 21st 2012) on our way to the First Annual Purcellville Food and Wine Festival in Purcellville, VA. The winery was wonderful, the staff was very skilled and the presentation of the tastings is unique and moves at a leisurely pace. There is a $10 fee for tastings, but that pairs the wines with either a savory or sweet sample of foods, plus education about the combinations. We found Fabbioli's tasting methods to be unique and fun.

Enjoyed our stop by Fabbioli Cellars where we tasted some wine, had some cheese and crackers/bread, and sat under the shade for a couple of hours on a very hot and sunny afternoon. The place was packed and thus everyone seemed to be rushing around. Compared to previous experiences at various wineries and vineyards, this one for us was just average--not quite the ambience or the service we've enjoyed at others.

The place is just a house with a couple of patio areas and a rather narrow selection of whites and reds. The vineyard can be seen at a distance from the house. My wine choices were very good, which I guess is what paid for the visit and would make it an alternative to reutrn. Worth a visit but not being Leesburg's top rated attraction on Tripadvisor.

Go for the raspberry merlot, and stay to hang out and enjoy the tasting pairings, cool vibe, and great outdoor area. They focus on the environment and locally-grown, right down to the asparagus in mustard sauce on our wine-pairing plate (grown out front). The $10 fee includes 8 samplings (a lot!) and a choice of savory or sweet food pairing plate, to help educate and inspire. My husband and I ordered one of each to better appreciate the offerings. The chocolates were AMAZING and were prepared by a local chocolate artist working on getting her own retail space, but in the meantime, her INCREDIBLE Aztec Heat truffles are available for purchase in the front store, along with other treats, like the mustard, and of course, the wine. Presentation is not lost on them, and their pear wine is sold both on its own, and in a cool bottle with a pear inside (great for gifts). Groups should make reservations in advance- a bachelorette party were clearly having a good time. We will be going back when family come to town to visit- who knew, Virginia really can produce a terrific wine.
