Owner description: Morven Park was once the home of Virginia governor, Westmoreland Davis, and his wife Marguerite. More than 70 years after his death, the accomplishments and ideals of Gov. Davis still resonate within the 1,000 acres of this one-of-a-kind place. Each year 150,000 people visit the Park, whether participating in its competitive equestrian events, touring its three museums, attending educational and recreational programs, or just enjoying the beauty of the woodlands, mountainous ridge, historic buildings, and formal gardens. Summer tour hours for Morven Park's three museums are Thursday, Friday,Saturday, and Monday 12p.m.-5p.m. and Sunday 12p.m-5p.m. Starting September 1st, the museums will be open to the public Saturdays and Sundays 12:00 - 5:00, with the last tour starting at 4:00 pm. The historic gardens, Turkey Hill Farm, hiking trails, equestrian center and athletic complex are open every day. Operated by the Westmoreland Davis Memorial Foundation, Morven Park is a non-profit organization, relying on individual donations, memberships, and event income to finance its public programs and preservation of its historic and natural resources.

Wide Open Area... not much else. Nothing really to discuss. The picture of the old mansion is great, good luck timing a tour of though.

“A great Historic Mansion Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2012

If you like history, and well preserved and well kept mansions, don't miss this one! The approximate 45 minute to 1 hour tour was very well done and the mansion is filled with a collection of unique and beautful furnishing from all over the world including a few pieces and tapestries from at least one European castle. The separate carriage collection is also well presented and interesting, and a few reproductions of Civil War Soldier Huts is also worth 'a look.' Overall, my wife and I spent a couple of very interesting and well worth hours here and the cost was very very reasonable! We'd like to visit again at Christmas when they'll have the house decorated as it may have appeared during the holidays in the 1920's.

Grounds are beautiful, nice place to picnic or go on a stroll. I hear they do weddings, they would be gorgeous. House is pretty and tour was interesting, story of the owners.

“Interesting and educational”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2012

Tucked away in a corner of Leesburg is Morven Park. The property is very nice and well maintained, and offers a good opportuinty for a relaxing afternoon walk. The tour of the mansion is about 45-60 minutes long, very well conducted and related, and offers a good recount on what the owners of this mansion must have gone through from its beginning until now--a combination of art and history. With original furniture and well preserved rooms, the mansion is worth a visit to learn more about American history and in particular, Virginia. By stepping into each room, you can appreciate the history of this family and its predecessors, and learn about what was going on in Virginia and in America in those years, and how people managed back in those days.

We did not do the carriage tour but only the house. The fee is very small ($5/house) and if you have AAA, you can get a $1 discount. Well worth our time and money.
