My visiting daughter and I dined here on a Thursday evening. We did not have reservations and walked in around 7. We had a little table in the back section; only two other tables had patrons, so it was very nice for conversation. We took advantage of the three course option and had an appetizer of crab-stuffed mushrooms. We enjoyed a half bottle of wine as well. Surprisingly we both had the exact same meal, Greek salad, panko seared scallops with roasted potatoes and asparagus. The only complaint was that the bread crumbs were slightly over-caramelized. Coconut cream pie completed the meal. The prices were a little above normal for the the Northern Neck but not outrageous by any measure. You'd pay at least this much in DC or Richmond for the same meal, so it's only the neighborhood that's different. Many reviews talk about the limited menu, but we didn't find that to be a problem. There was something appetizing in each category. The food was very tasty--but it didn't stand out in any particular way. When the evening was finished we both agreed that we had enjoyed ourselves very much and that had been our objective from the start.

The Bistro recently expanded so you don't feel quite so cramped. The menu is limited and definitely on the pricey side, but the food was good.

Town Bistro is about the only restaurant in the Kilmarnock (Northern Neck) Virginia to offer a very limited seafood. This is my 2nd time visiting this restaurant and the only thing that disappointed me was that there was no local fish on the menu. Both times the only fish was salmon.....I can get salmon in Richmond in many of the restaurants but when I visit the Northern Neck which has such close proximity to the Chesapeake Bay and the many rivers that are in the area you would think you could get local fresh flounder on the menu.....almost impossible to find in the area....so sad.....the garlic stuff shrimp and crabmeat was delicious and I would highly recommend it.....service is good.....the restaurant I feel lacks in atmosphere...a rather very dark restaurant and lacks in local atmosphere....menu very limited....hope they consider adding some local fish such as dolphin, flounder, and trout.....the fish market in Deltaville sells and it's all local....

Recommend making a reservation. Place is small but the food is worth every penny!

You need to know you want to go here a week in advance. Definately upscale dining and very good food. Service was average, and menu choices were varied enough that everyone will find something they like. It is pricey and not for kids.
