“A must for history buffs”

This is a beautiful colonial era church that is open only during the summer (no heat). Worth the short side trip to visit . . . expecially for anyone interested in colonial architecture and history. Beautiful spot.

“Out of the way but worth the trip.”

Almost 300 years old, the church is an architectural and historical gem. Also located on Virginia's Northern Neck are Washington's Birthplace, Stratford Hall which was the home of the Lee family and other historical sites. I actually intended to give the church an "excellent" rating.

“Local jewel”

Small, really old church (early 1600's) - and nice small museum. Great acoustics. Try to catch the Kirkin 'o the Tartan - in April I think. When the drum and bagpipe corps marches in, the sound is incredible. Church services are held here in summer. And a Chrismas presentation about the 2nd week in December.

“Great visitor experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2012

This is a restored church built in the early 1700's. It has been beautifully restored and some of the early founding families still live in the area. There is a self-guided tour in the entrance with a good deal of history and a large collection of artifacts. There is a timeline displaying the restoration history, Then a docent leads you through the church tour. Amazing brickwork, still has the high backed pews! Hard to believe people back in the 1700;s carved bricks into different shapes. Very well worth the $5.00 donation!

“MUST visit”

Fascinating guided tour. A lot of information about the area and the Northern Neck. One of only two historic churches that still has the high backed pews. Beautifully maintained.
