“In the nick of time”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

After a long hike and some issues, we tried to eat a late lunch somewhere and because it was Labor Day weekend many places not open--Anchors Family Restaurant opened its doors and heart to us--nice atmosphere, though food a bit on the rich side.

Family restaurant and the food was great, especially if you are tired of sandwiches and pizza! Would definately eat here again!

“Great Choice for Family Gathering”
Reviewed June 29, 2012

About 30 of us gathered there on a Sunday afternoon for a family gathering that celebrated a special occasion. Family members that live near here chose this restaurant and I’m glad that they did. This is a small home style restaurant in a very rural part of Virginia near Smith Mountain Lake. Besides the tables in the front and a counter, they also have a large room in the back of the restaurant that easily accommodated us (and could have handled a group double the size easily). This room could also accommodate large crowds when the restaurant is busy, and has steam tables set up for when they have buffets.

We had given them our orders in advance and they had the food ready at the exact time we wanted it. My ribeye was tender enough that it could be cut with a fork, and my wife's BBQ chicken was also very good. I didn't hear one complaint about any of the entrees. The staff was extremely efficient and friendly -- and did everything they could to make us feel welcome. This included the waitress stooping down while carrying a full tray of food so she wouldn’t mess up the video of the presentation that was being made.

Sorry if the pictures posted twice -- I thought I downloaded them but they didn't show up on the post -- so I did it again.
