“A nice dining experience on all counts....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 29, 2013

Based on the some of the reviews I read here, I wasn't expecting much. But my wife and I were pleasantly surprised by a very nice dinner and excellent service. I think the term "comfort food" when applied to the menu is an apt description -- large, home-style portions. If one is a golfer (and I am not), one will be delighted with the Snead memorabilia that faces you everywhere.

“Mediocre escape from the Homestead”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2013

We were staying at the Homestead, and the Tavern is the cheapest option of the resort restaurants (even though it's slightly off the property). Didn't expect too much, which was lucky because it was all very average. The place was quite cute inside, and the service was fine, but the food was not great - we had the Blue Cheese Meatloaf and the Chicken Pot Pie. Overpriced for what it was, but in Hot Springs there aren't too many more options. I'd recommend driving down to Warm Springs, for a similar price you can eat at the Wheelhouse which is a much superior restaurant.

“Memorabilia Everywhere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013 via mobile

We were at the Homestead for a meeting and decided to dine at Sam Snead's Tavern. The management was most helpful, as we changed our reservation from 6 to 10 to 13. The service was excellent( our waitress had worked the earlier golf tournament we had just played in) and the food was delicious. The portions are huge so try sharing if you can agree on the same entree. Save room for deserts , though they also are huge so share.

“Bland and Flavorless”

Very disappointed in our meal. Everything was so blah - even the bread pudding was nothing special. Wish we had eaten somewhere else.

“Just OK”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2013

I had the fish and chips which was OK and my husband had the flank steak which was OK as well. Our waitress was way too attentive. She kept coming to our table every 3 minutes or so. It was annoying.
