Keep to the pub fare on the menu. Great burgers and steaks. The featured trout was overpriced and dry. It's a family-friendly place but the kids can disappear if it's all adults as there are lots of booths. Try to sit in the hearth room. It's the best

“Check the menu online before making reservations!”

We chose the $14 hamburgers for dinner, as spending $25-30 per entree for "tavern" food seemed silly.

“Quaint Little Bar / Restaurant with pricey food and average service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013 via mobile

Even tough the Homestead advertisement makes it look like the tavern is part of the resort it is actually in the village and that took a while to figure out. Once we found our way, we were quickly seated. Then it took a while to for the wait staff to take our order and bring our drinks. It seems that most of the staff is from Jamaica, not that is an issue but a lityle unexpected in mountain Virgina. The food was average my steak was just like warm and not cooked to the right temperature. For the price one can expect better service and food.

“So so... Expensive”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013 via mobile

This is an expensive restaurant for the food and service you get. To feed 2 adults and 2 kids we paid 140 dollars! Service was kind of rude.... Definitely not welcoming like you expect from a small town restaurant. Not worth the price.

“ONE OF SEVERAL GOOD CHOICES OTHER THAN THE DINING ROOM”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

Located in any early 1900's bank with the vault used as a wine cellar. Many Snead items around, Having watched Snead play, find this interesting.

Service is very good on the part of all staff. Trout is a very good choice - sourced locally. Other items have been as good in the past. Will dine there again in the future.
