Loved the food, known for there steaks and fish. Service is consistent and reliable. The interior has a homey, comfortable log cabin feel. Desserts are generous, as are all there portions.

As others have noted, dining options at The Homestead are severely limited. (So limited, in fact, that I am disinclined to stay here again.... but that's another review.) We were excited to try Sam Snead's Tavern- the menu looked interesting and the ambiance is casual and intimate. Four of us ate there tonight, and everyone was disappointed.

I had the French Onion soup and lobster pot pie. The soup was ok, the lobster was bland and runny. My mother had the clam chowder- she loved this - and the crab and lobster "salad" which wasn't a salad at all (though the menu said it would be served on greens); she felt it was very bland and weird (like a patty of crab and lobster served on way salty crostini). Both my teenaged sons had the cheeseburger and both didn't like them- one ate his but pronounced it "meh", the other didn't even finish his (a rare occurrence!). So, except for the chowder, we thought the food either mediocre, or bad.

Food above + 2 drinks (no dessert): $112 before tip. Not outrageous, but way too much to spend on bad to mediocre food and apathetic service. Would not go again and cannot recommend.

We ate at Sam Snead's two times. The first time, our service was horrible - the waiter didn't approach us for 15 minutes after being seated. When he finally did approach us, it was simply to take our order. He never asked if wanted a beverage to start, if we had questions about the menu, etc.

After being served our meals, he never came to check on us or to offer another glass of wine. He only returned with the dessert menu. When we declined, he gave us the check and that was it. The food was fine, but a little pricey for the quality.

The second night, we sat at the bar for dinner and our service was much improved. Since there are not any dining options outside of the resort (other than the Subway across the street), you're at their mercy. Thus customer service doesn't seem to be a necessary priority for them.

I went to play the lower cascades course with some guys from my country club. After a day of golf we decided to stop at the tavern for some dinner before the long ride home. The history within the place is cool but thats the only positive. We waited on our food for atleast 45 minutes. The food was expensive and wasn't that good. I could of got more and better tasting food at Applebees for half the price. I wouldn't reccomend stopping by unless you have hours to waste.

Most looked forward to dining here turned into will we ever do that again? The menus has changed, not as many steak choices. Service was extremely slow and non-apologetic. Very pricey, and not overly impressive.
